While I agree with you that it was a very tough race for the pilots, I would like to note with my best respect that, in my opinion, it does not follow that this kind of "trainspotting" is interesting to the public.

Agreed, it also separates the proverbial "men from the boys'. It's also kinda fun during the race, like a car control clinic of sorts. Bet ALO had a great time driving (other than the team's bad pit strategy).

Ok, you're right, I was wrong, so I changed my mind!

Since I don't want to be treated as a chicken, I'm willing to sit in an F1 car to test my skills. After all, if you think this is absolutely necessary for me to describe how terribly boring "race" was this for the spectators, then so be it.

So there is only one question left: When will you provide this opportunity for me?

The Official Formula One Thread!

This is all you should need.

Nobody said you had to rain race in an F1 car, try Formula Ford (F1600). You’ll know…

Here is the nearest affiliate club to you in Hungary and their calendar. https://mnasz.hu/hu/

First, get into a driver’s school if you don’t already have competition experience.

^^^^ epic! Formula Ford is an excellent suggestion.

(Friendly humor as slowly extend my arm and 'bow' my 'approving' hand) You have my Royal approval Paul.

If only we could arrive and drive three equally-prepped FF and 'race' together. Of course you'd win Paul, yet it'd sure be fun!

You know, that's not how it works in Hungary. We do not have racetracks for the "public" or amateurs. Mostly we have the Hungaroring only. Of course, it is also true in the same time, that we have some national championships, but a significant part of them are in the rally sport, and they are mostly only for professionals. It doesn't work for us like it does for you, where you can pay for a racetrack and can go out there to practice or have fun on the weekend. So if what I wrote sounded like fun or sarcasm, it wasn't an insult.

It's true that if there was a way to test a race car on a race track under safe conditions, I would probably do it, but unfortunately I don't have the chance. By the way, I read that the Formula Ford series has ended, so even if I could get a car, I wouldn't be able to legally try it out here.

You know, there's often a bigger differences between the countries formerly occupied by soviets and the free western world than you could ever imagine.

+1:

I almost forgot my original thought: I didn't criticize the pilots at all, I didn't blame them for the fact that I thought the race was boring. On the contrary, I think they were much more annoyed than I was by this hopelessly suffocating boredom in which they were unable to overtake. In my view it says a lot that when there was finally a "battle" for the 19th, it was presented as a "huge event"... you know, for me this is a circus, a showtime that LM wants to sell us. I pay with money to be at the race in person or with my time watching it on TV. For me.

From this point of view, and with all due respect, I do not think that the spectators' opinion about the race should be based on a real racing car driving experience.

....and VER pulls over and let's ALO win his home race in 2023. What an amazing show of sportsmanship.

ALO winning Sunday's race would have virtually zero effect on VER's championship. Points are worth, what, a few thousand each, so it's not about losing any meaningful funding. Surely Paul can tell us what a point is worth. I'd kick in $10 if that helps.

VER could have a 'minor' off on the last lap that lets ALO through.

Mercedes summoned after F1 parc ferme rules breach.

Teams are regularly notified ahead of the race about who and who is not allowed into the parc ferme area following the race.

There is also a strict limit on when physios are allowed to interact with their drivers ahead of the podium ceremony.

In notes sent to the teams by the FIA on Sunday morning ahead of the Spanish GP, it was said: "Other than the team mechanics (with cooling fans if necessary), officials and FIA pre-approved television crews and FIA approved photographers, no one else will be allowed in the designated area once the cars are in the Parc Ferme area (no team PR personnel.)

In Mercedes defense, it’s been so long since they’ve been on podium, they probably forget the rules 😂

The Official Formula One Thread!

No more morning French chef croissants next round. Small price to pay

I only saw HAM new physio hand him the watch and cap and take the helmet, earbuds, balaclava and Hans. He stood near the downstairs doorway to the cool down room stairwell behind new podium. I went back and read the post-race and podium event notes…

Oops

And you were almost right, only what you predicted should have happened between Stroll and Alonso. I honestly don't know why they didn't switch places.

Who tattled? And... really Mr. Tattler???

As for the race, poetic ending.
