Patek ADs by the numbers

script to pull data from Patek website, parsed into tabular data, VB macro to clean it up, imported into excel...and a few curiosities revealed.

Overall there are 421 Patek ADs across 71 Countries

The top 10 countries by number of ADs in order are;
US, Germany, UK, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Spain, HK, Singapore, Taiwan

ADs with multiple locations including multiple locations across various countries play a very big part in the number of ADs, so while there are 421 ADs in total, there are only ~272 unique ADs across the globe.

US has 78 total ADs but only has 54 unique ADs
UK has 38, 22 unique
Switzerland 22, 17 unique
Japan 30, 21 unique
Italy 38, 21 unique
Germany 42, 25 unique
HK 12, 7 unique
Singapore 11, 3 unique
Taiwan 11, 3 unique
Russian Federation 7, 1 unique

The AD with the most locations in the world is Wempe with 18 locations across mostly Germany with 1 each in US, UK, France, Spain

Bucherer/Tourneau AD has 12 locations across Germany and US

Mercury runs all 7 locations in Russia

Hour Glass has 12 locations across HK, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia

Cortina has 12 locations across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, HK, Indonesia

Berry's has 6 locations in the UK, Boodles has 5

In the US the AD with the most locations is Tourneau (owned by Bucherer) with 7 locations, then Tiffany with 4 locations, and Watches of Switzerland with 4 locations as well.

30 US States(including DC) have an AD

5 US states have 4 or more AD options in the state. CA, FL, NJ, NY, TX.

here are a few visuals of the data above.

the terminology I used to represent the number of ADs after removing from the count the multiple locations an AD may have.

So for example;

Canada has 4 ADs, but only 3 unique ones as two are Birks, one is Humbertown, the other is Kaufmann.

I would not have guessed that Italy would have had more ADs than HK, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia combined.

I would not have imagined a small country like Singapore has 11 AD, while China only has 2.

Very interesting. I am sure u remember reading somewhere that USA accounts for 20% of global sales and UK 15%. This may explain the anomalt in watch allocations that the USA gets more due to the number of outlets versus the UK but volumes are not in linear to the number of branches. Thus you have watches sitting at AD in the USA and quietly being moved to grey's whereas in the UK there is less available.

China only has two Maisons because that is all Stern wants the country to have. The demand for Patek could easily justify a lot more.

Rolex website has some protections built in to prevent crawling...I'll have to play with it later when I have more time. But to give you a preview.

for just the US....
Rolex has 343 ADs compared to Patek's 78. That is 4.4 times more. Rolex is in 49 states compared to Patek's 30...slightly more of the occurrence of ADs with multiple locations, so ~206 unique from the 343. But in glancing at the data beyond the US it looks like a bigger than 4.4 multiple in other countries.

Here is a breakdown of US by state.

South Dakota and Wyoming...I listed DC in the group, so two states do not have ADs.
