Speedy Pro - Meteorite dial (Apollo Soyuz)

What is general consensus of the meteorite dial on watches? Are they hard to read? What about the aesthetic appeal of it?

I know the Daytona Meteorite dial is popular, what about this Speedy Pro? Do you think it suits?

I think meteorite dials are very nice. They give a watch an interesting touch. I think I looks great on Speedy.

Love the dial on the daytona, loved the dial on the speedy until I tried one on. Just didn't float my boat at all, you cant beat the classic black

Looks nice, I just prefer the classic black better.

Has a very organic look to it, which appeals to me. The macro shot is great.

"Meteorite ≠ moon watch" in my opinion

Now if the dial were cut from an actual moon rock, I might consider it.

I thought they looked awesome on the internet. All the close up shots were stunning. Then I saw one in person--not into it at all. At first glance it looks like you have a vintage with a crystal that has been sanded with 30 grit.

My thoughts exactly. And with an asking price of more than double a regular Speedy Pro for just a cosmetic enhancement, that's a really bitter pill to swallow. It didn't float my boat, unfortunately

Wow, I need to see one of these in person, if everyone keeps saying they hate them. I love the idea of them and the pictures so, I need to see it in real life.

It looks slick from these scans, but legibility might be an issue. The regular Speedmaster Pro is one of the most legible chronographs available.

As a SECOND Speedy Pro, this would make a wonderful addition to a larger collection, but I couldn't see myself owning it as my only Speedmaster.

Prior to reading this thread, I was unaware that this version of the Speedmaster was available.
The meteorite is very dark compared to a meteorite Daytona which has a much lighter silver/white colored dial.
Does anyone have information about the availability and the price?

It was 2010's Speedmaster L.E., celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the Apollo-Soyuz link up. Limited to 1975 pieces worldwide, it retailed over here for something like £5300 (if memory serves), compared to the £2360 of the regular Speedmaster Pro. As for availability, it's hard to say - I wouldn't imagine it would have been a big seller, so you should be able to find one

When I took the first look on this LE, I thought it was something to do with the moon rock. I guess it would be pretty awesome if it was and I bet it would be cheap either.

I've seen it and it looks very nice, but in my opinion the meteorite dial doesn't justify the $4350 premium over the 3570.50.

That's true but you can have a big discount,30% or more, the price here is 6200 euros but I paid 4400 for it.
