Lots of watches worn in San Francisco, but similar situation with a DA who essentially does not prosecute "non violent" crime... Be careful where and at what time you wear your watches these days is my takeaway. That said, 99.9% of the time, I'm not in a place I need to worry about it, so I don't.

Same here. Where I live, I never have to worry about it.

If large cities want to be branded as "High Crime Rate Zones," then let them. I'm beyond the point of caring anymore.

Interesting. I was in NYC in August and wore my BLNR everywhere. Never felt unsafe.

And would expect millions of Rolex watches are worn daily world wide without any problems, but todays media and press once you mention the word Rolex always blown out of all proportion.

Nah, just purchase something that is not as recognizable as a Rolex.

I refuse to wear a watch I don’t enjoy wearing. I’ll switch brands before I bring myself to wear a department store watch. That’s why I now travel with a Panarai submersible. It certainly goes under the radar far more than any Rolex.

Its sad but unfortunately a fact these socialist/commie politicians in blue cities are letting their voters down by condoning violent crimes and thefts in their cities.

I have reported this thread and a couple of the posts. Politics are not allowed on this forum and these “alert” threads always bring out the worst in people. If you don’t feel safe wearing your watch in public then don’t.

sure - you can lock it down. But the videos in the links specifically reference thieves LOOKING for Rolex watches on wrists. Jubilee and oyster bracelets are pretty much the tell tale sign IMHO.

So before the lock, be mindful with your Rolex in public. Looks like it can MAKE you a target.

These "safety warnings" always lead to closed threads as they always turn political. You people should know better by now.

There have been plenty of instances where muggings in the city have happened because of someone wearing a Rolex. There was a shooting at a very well known restaurant and it was because of a Rolex submariner.

Watches are going double and triple retail in some instances even more. People are aware of this and naturally this will cause a chain reaction of theft, etc. During these insane times.

I picked up my CHNR the other day from a well known AD in the city and was told specifically to be very careful and have eyes open all the way home because there have been more and more instances of muggings and robberies involving watches, with some people even being followed home from the store. For all the media reports- there is also plenty more that it doesn’t report.

Definitely a good time to keep your eyes open and be extra aware of your surroundings. Not saying to not wear your watch. Just saying to be extra cautious. I am in the city daily for work and have a wife and a newborn coming very soon so sometimes I prefer to have my head clear. The watches still get plenty of wrist time- just a bit pickier where for now.

I'm out on the "main line" of Philly. Heard on the radio this morning a groom was robbed of his Rolex after the marriage ceremony too

What’s wrong with discussing politics? I guess the tell all is when you can ban Trump from all social media platforms what’s stopping this forum from doing the same I guess. Truly sad times indeed. Interestingly enough some of my liberal friends here in LA are running out and buying guns lol bunch of knuckleheads...once it’s hitting him the outlook changes I guess.

I travel N. America and Germany for work and have a Rolex on my wrist 100% of the time.
There is a safe way to do this and a dumb way that will get you mugged...hell maybe I'll mug you if your wearing that PM Daytona I've been wanting.

You’re new here and obviously did not read the rules about posting. This is a forum about watches and politics are not allowed. I suspect your time here will be short.

100%. Just spent 3 months (with travel at times) in NYC wearing my Explorer, Aquanaut, Patek Grand Complication and other nice watches - including running the NYC Marathon with the Aquanaut. Was in all the boroughs for dinners, entertainment etc. Never a problem. Anything can happen anywhere but I'm not going to run my life worrying about threats.

bit of an overreaction. it's winter and your watch will be covered. no doubt nyc is worse than it was a few years ago but you'll be fine here, it just requires a bit more situational awareness than for example 2018 and 2019 where you'd be worry free wearing a gold watch on the subway or out and about at night

I’m shocked that it’s been all over the states almost. CNN is reporting too many watches-related assault!
