1803 Authenticity Check
Hey TRF, I need help verifying if this 1803 day date is original or even just real. I'm purchasing from a store and they let me take the pics and tell me its all original.
I was able to change the day and date using the 1803 method rotating 12 to 9, but wanted other opinions. I used a magnifier to try and see the 18k/750 but it looks like it was soldered or polished away, is that possible? Also, is it normal to hear the movement inside if the watch is turned upside down and back? Thanks!! |

Its real but the crystal is aftermarket, to be able to hear the movement is not unusualnespecially for a watch this old

Looks fine apart from aftermarket plastic glass, simple change on these though.

Case lugs are fairly thin but that is normal for a watch this age... also, I believe that bezel might be from a newer model as the 1803 bezels tend to be thin, especially if it has seen a polishing wheel as often as the case has...

Those are some thin and horribly polished lugs. I dont think you would ever be able to put a bracelet on it and if you do there would probably be gaps. Hopefully its priced right with the major loss of gold, aftermarket crystal, service hands, the day and date wheels look to be aftermarket too. Who knows what else has been done to it. If the price is right then you may be able to get it back to its former self again.
