As to the deal, I wouldn't personally do it. Buy new or move onto the next piece. |

Many thanks. The watch is sealed. Which next piece you think wod be a better swap considering i am not an uber collector who would get a day 1 allocation of a special piece. I normally have to bring my own coffee to the AD

Sounds like you have fallen for the 5575G and that I fully understand. You are paying a massive premium for the 5575G compared to new which from memory was actually less than $50k (£33K) new. It has done very well on the used market and it is probably a safe place for your money but I don't see any real price growth. If you love it and know what you are getting into then sure, why not. But 5130P is also lovely piece in it's own right and was a more expensive piece new than the 5575G.

Now, I can only hope Patek Philippe will one day launch another MP WT 'inspired' by the 5575. Not only the MP is stunning, but also the hands are the nicest of all WTs imho. Sigh. |

Yes the 5130P was £40400 and tbe 5575G was £36600 at retail. The second hand price for a 5130P is circa £26k and bottomed and fhe 5575 has topped out....

It is a special watch because of the moon phase and realistic moon. I do love mine and happy I bought it. But I did get mine at release with my name on the papers. It was an allocation piece.
If you want one untouched, still sealed, you really don’t have too many choices. 1300 is not that many for the world. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's a lovely watch and one that I want to add to my collection as well.
Personally, I have seen 4-5 of these appear in recent auctions (all in the last 2 months) so in my mind, sellers are seeing that this is a good time to sell and move on. From memory, the cheapest was around $75K to the most expensive selling for just under $120K, so there is considerable variation. I believe the lowest "sealed condition" result was around $85K. One in "excellent condition with light wear" sold at Christies 2 days ago for $106K with the buyers premium. Anyway, hope this info helps :) |

I love these, they just don't fit my life. So, no love for them.

Get the watch that you want. If you want a sealed watch as an investment piece, then get the sealed 5575. If you are going to wear it and open the seal, then I don't think it is worth paying the premium for a sealed watch.
Both the 5130P and 5575G are fabulous watches. I predict the 5130P will be more sought after with time. The blue guilloche dial of the 5130P and the smaller production numbers makes it quite special. I don't think Patek made more than a couple of thousand 5130P's, although I have no way of verifying this number. Having said that, the 5575G is in a different league. The only thing I would have changed is for Patek to have made the watch in platinum. Then it would be perfect Production number of 1300 is not a small number though. I own both the 5130P and the 5575G. The 5575 is certainly the more special piece, but the 5130P is not too far behind. |
