I walked into my retailer in 2014 and bought a 5711 and 5980 from the display case. At today’s exchange, I paid $17k and $34k USD respectively. In hindsight, should have bought the second 5980 they had in inventory (also a blue dial). Different times....

Posting the pictures of all your real Rolex DateJust doesn't proved that your 5711 is real..... I thought you gave the Daytona 500 to your dad..??.. He now return to you because he found out it was a fake.....??

Check out this thread.....^^^...... I wonder why it has been closed on 11-17-29..... Fake watch or Fake father story....

In fact now it proved that your Daytona 500 is might be a fake too.....

Really...... You should be a pro by now.... But the evidence on the most new thread that you post show you a real amateur into watch collecting.....

Honesty not sure what the OP try to proved by posting a fake 5711 & a fake Daytona 500......

His watch collection is fine without the 5711 and Daytona 500....

Peace Out

I actually think it is. The color of the dial never flashes that color of blue (it's almost purple). Those that own the 5711 (old and new dial) can tell right off that it looks weird.

I fully understand that and could agree, had that been the look of it in the metal. But it’s a picture taken with a camera that could have done any number of things to the colors, especially since it’s taken in artificial light. If it had tried to correct any bit of green in that light, which the bias could well have been for neon tubes, the camera would have added purple, which could easily have skewed the hue of the dial into what it is on the picture.

Again, I actually think it’s fake too, but the dial hue on the image is not good enough as evidence.

I guess I don't understand forum trolls, but I can't imagine someone spending the time and procuring either fake watches or someone else's pictures to dupe a bunch of people on line that he doesn't know. But there's a lot of behavior in the world that I fail to understand.

Good job, sleuths!

Interesting turn of events but OP did pose an interesting question.

We are practically in isolation in my part of the world.

I took my 5711 and was inspired by Watchrookie on Instagram to bring along a black ceramic Daytona along with me. I wore the Daytona for the first couple of days before switching over.

The 5711 is something special in my book.

I hope the demand and price starts to soften so we have the end of these sort of threads - anybody who wishes get to buy one at list with a reasonable wait time.

I really don't understand why anyone would post a fake timepiece and claim its real on this forum. Life is to short to lie and pretend.

Maybe to dupe a potential buyer when he goes to sell online. Potential buyer can see his post and maybe gets reassurance.

It’s demand and supply (or more like bandwagoning). I would snap one at retail as there is zero chance of losing value but given that PP has like 2 watches I have interest in (nautilus and aquanaut) and the rest are round dress watches that I would never really wear its not worth my time to invest in the brand. This may change In 10-20 years who knows...

Add to that, the only times in recent memory i have actually seen someone in a 5711 is a 18-25 yr old Asian kid in shorts and slippers (i am Asian so i can say that lol) i don’t want to assiciate myself with the daddy’s trust-fund-kid crowd either...

15500 is close to 10k over MSRP if your looking for a unworn one, blue dial that's even more.

Depends on which market. AP introduced big price hikes in many European markets on July 1st. Plenty of 15500ST now on C24 which are unworn and below list prices in eg Scandinavia.

I believe that might be due to the fact prices on C24 are generally expressed without VAT which is pretty high on luxury items in Scandinavia, so what’s true in Sweden or Denmark may not be in other parts of the world in this respect.

In my experience local sales taxes or VAT are included in the listed prices on C24 (I’m sure there are exceptions). Then there would have to be adjustment with import duties etc if buying across borders but that’s not applicable when ordering intra-EU.

This is right.
I bought several times from a trusted dealer in Stockholm and the prices are as advertised, no hidden VAT

I never handled a 5711, so keeping that in mind, I’m in a minority that never really understood the hype around that reference.
Yes it’s a nice watch but I wouldn’t pay $1k above MSRP, let alone $30k in some cases!!
The AP 15500 has a lot more going for it and would certainly be my pick but still wouldn’t pay the premium (which is a lot less than the one for the 5711)
Again, that’s only my humble opinion!

The 15500 is gorgeous but it is large and meaty compared to the 5711. I think a 15202 or 14790 is closer in scale and how it wears compared to a 5711.

I think one has to wear a nautilus for a day to understand its comfort and "silken" feel. The 14790st and 15202st also come close.
