Daily Experience with Datejust - Week in Review

Been wearing my newly acquired 126234 DJ Jubilee Blue Dial as a daily for a week. Here are some of my observations:

1. Jubilee is awesome. This coupled with the 36 mm case size makes it amazingly comfortable. This is probably my favorite aspect of the watch honestly and why I believe it is an excellent choice for a daily.

2. I was concerned a bit over the fluted bezel and PCLs being too loud for a daily. But I believe the fluted bezel is a must in the sun it's magic. Again even though they are shiny the smaller case size really tones it down imo.

3. Blue Dial is cool it was a bit darker then I expected in the right light it does appear lighter. It is interesting

Overall I love the watch.

Would love to see pics of other watches for people who wear DJs as their daily driver and hear some other viewpoints.

That’s one of the best right there. Especially in 36mm. Best DJ for me

blue dial looks good in picture, but it didn't sing on my wrist. As you said, it's too dark. I don't like it.

Great watch and size. I have been wearing mine daily since purchased new in 1994.

36mm is the classic size for a Datejust in my opinion.

Great watch. And one of things I like about the blue dial is it's subtle. Often, appears dark navy, black in shadow, pops in the sun.

Congratulations! My wife wears the same watch. I agree that the blue sun burst dial is mesmerizing as it shimmers from tones of black to bright blue as it moves through different lighting. 36mm is our favorite DJ size

I have the 41mm version of this watch (36 looked too small on my wrist). It is no longer my daily, but until recently it was probably my most worn watch. It was my first Rolex and one of my favorite all time watches....total class and will never go out of style.

Beautiful watch mate!

My GF bought me a smooth/oyster DJ41 and I love it.
I like the fact that it doesn't have a fluted bezel or the jubilee bracelet.
I live at the beach and hardly ever dress-up so I'm glad it's more casual and less flashy.
Hardly anyone recognizes it as a Rolex which I'm ok with!

Congrats on the DJ! I wore a DJ41 (grey diamond dial, fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet) as my daily (and only watch) for two years and loved it. As my only watch, I wore it in every setting (formal events, work, casually, and even on the beach/in the pool) and never had a problem. I never thought the dial, fluted bezel, and/or jubilee bracelet was too much although it’s a common concern I see posted here.

Congrats and great first. I wore Subs and a GMT for fifteen years and finally was ready for a DJ. I enjoy a DJ41 fluted on jubilee, silver dial and it’s a fantastic fit and feel on the wrist. Nothing but Rolex Love, cheers and enjoy the journey

The DJ36 you have is a great watch! I may be a bit biased, however :-)))
(( Loving mine! ))

Edit: for those willing to click, I wrote about my DJ36 earlier in this blog post (ad and tracker free website):

I have a black dial, fluted, jubilee that I wear in rotation. I love it and, as I’ve argued before, I think it may be the perfect all-around piece: looks great dressed up or down, reliable, accurate, good water resistance.

Love it!

The DJ36 is perfection. You really don't need anything else. They wear so beautifully (at least my 90s 5-digit does; I assume the newer ones are the same). If I were in the market for a new one, I think the blue motif dial or azurro dial would be top contenders.

Wearing my DJ41 today. I love this watch. Similar to the blue, the color can change a lot depending on light. It looks a lot lighter under the bright Rolex lights at the AD. In the evenings, it’s almost like a dark silver or closer to a rhodium dial. Or maybe it’s just my eyes playing tricks on me?

For the DD I love to 40 mm and bought one.
For the DJ I love the 36 mm!
Nice score

Picked up my silver dial 36 with fluted/jubilee over the summer. I’ve been really pleasantly surprised with how much I love the smaller size. It wears amazing, IMO. I also feel that the smaller size with the thinner fluted bezel tones down the bling a bit. This latest iteration of the 36 with the slimmed down lugs is really great.
