SD43 Too BIG on my Wrist?
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if I could ask for opinions whether the SD43 looks too big on my wrist. For individuals with the SD43 and have wrists <7", do you find the SD43 uncomfortable or top-heavy? My wrist is a little above 6.75". I presently wear the 16610, EXPII and the BLNR in rotation with the EXPII and BLNR being my favorites to wear. I was initially worried that the EXPII was too large but it's such a comfortable watch. I stopped wearing a Seamaster Chrono (41.5mm) because of the thickness and notable heftiness throughout the day. It's not uncomfortable, but not as comfortable as my other watches. I've wanted the SD43 for a long time but now worry that it's going to look too large and not be comfortable. Thanks in advance. Last edited by underdog33; 16 February 2020 at 01:31 AM.. It does look a little big. Kind of surprising though, I thought it’d fit a 6.75 inch wrist.
Good news though, you can buy it, wear it for a bit to see if it’s unbearable. If you find it wears well, keep it. Otherwise, sell it. |

Up close most watches will appear larger than they actually are. But what I've found about watches and sizing are 2 things: if the lugs hang over your wrist its generally considered 'too large'. and if you are asking opinions of the sizing on an online forum you likely already have doubts.
So that all being said is it too large for the wrist, comes down to being subjective as you will be the one wearing it and you need to be happy with the choice. My .02 this cold Saturday morning. |

My wrist is 6.75” on a hot day, though admittedly it is very flat. I would not judge the size based on close up photos, which tend to distort reality somewhat. Aside from the optical distortion of rendering 3D reality into a 2D image, nobody looks at a watch from 6 inches away.
As far as comfort goes, it’s as comfortable as any other sports watch in my collection and could easily be a daily. The only caveat would be if you are someone who likes to wear watches loose. I think the SD43 needs to be sized for a snug fit to stop the large, heavy watch head moving around.

That’s a tough call and only you can know.
It’s not so much the size of your wrist but as you mentioned it’ll be the heft and thickness. I’m also not sure how it compares to the Seamaster, but it sounds like it will be similar. Lots of folks here wear the SD43 as a daily, but for me it’s a rotation watch for the very reasons you mention. |

On a 6.75 wrist, I think it may just be alright visually, but I'd be more worried about comfort. The caseback is not flat, and causes the weight of the watch to have less surface area on the wrist, plus it sits higher, causing the feeling of being top heavy.
Only you can answer whether its comfortable for you or not...some feel its top heavy and not as comfortable because the caseback is not flat...some feel like its comfortable and not bothered by either the weight or the caseback. |

I think it looks perfect. I have a 7'' wrist and I wear a 48mm Breitling. I have a SD43 on order and often think it will look too small.

Looks fine in that wide wrist shot, it is a bit thick but not nearly as top heavy as my old DSSD so no worries there.

It’s borderline. If you love it you get it!
I don’t like it when the lugs touch the edge of the wrists let alone overhang. |

My wrist is a hair under 7 inches, but I rock the SD43 frequently. The watch head is heavy, but I wear my watches on the snug side as a rule, so the deeper, rounded caseback is very comfortable for me. I also had the diver’s extension removed upon purchase and that made a world of difference for me. This and my 42mm PAM973 are about as big as I go for watches. I’ve gotten away from 44mm and up over the years. If the SD43 is comfortable for you, it’s an excellent watch. |

Looks fine to me. Divers are often worn on the large side. No lugs overhang.

Whether it’s too big or not is subjective, but I can say with quite certainty that a 40mm watch would look better on you

That watch is supposed to look big. If that bothers you, get a sub, or a batgirl or something.

Yes, I think it looks too big. And, you know it too, otherwise you wouldn’t feel the need to ask!

I have a 7.5" wrist and felt it looked too big when I'd catch a glimpse in the mirror. The lugs have taken flight off the edge of the wrist with no hope of contact in sight.
That being said it was comfortable for me as a daily and when I looked down at it I was always smitten.

I had it for a few months and started getting some wrist pain from it. Had to let it go, the main concern is overall comfort on wrist. Had to take my submariner back from my wife. The fit is much more comfortable for everyday wear and despite the smaller appearance, it only took a few days to get re-adjusted to.

It looks a bit big on you.
With bigger watches, I find that the novelty of the wrist presence wears off very quickly! |

Looks fine to me but a bit on the thick side (that's to be expected with SD43).
