i prefer the six-digit cases and bezels by a goodly margin. positing your opinion as fact here.

i have a smaller wrist than the OP and have no issue with my SD43. is it chunky? quite. is it “too big?”

nah bruv.

your wee 5-digit cases are too small.

(jokes, here, fellas. it’s all personal preference and subjective. just making a point with that statement.)

Answering OP question. The answer is by nature subjective. We can agree to disagree I stand by my statement.

Looks a little too big, especially from the side view.

Look at it from further away, in a mirror, for a better perspective. Looking at it on your wrist from 12-18 inches away won’t give the best perspective. This is my SD43 and my wrists are the same size as yours...

It looks a little big, but not too. My thoughts, you'd rock a Sub much better. I have a 7" flat wrist and i was surprised my friends DSSD felt ok and didn't swallow my wrist but i know in the long run my 114060 is the better choice for me.

Right. I am 6 5/8ths and it wears well. I removed the diver extension and a number of links and it sits better than any of my other Rolexes.

You have to go with what you feel. I had a 43 mm Seamaster and everyone said it looked fine on me, but I just couldn't feel comfortable wearing it. It felt like it was swallowing my wrist. I have 6.75 in wrist. If you don't feel comfortable, don't do it.

Wearing it for the purpose it was designed to be used for, I'd say it fits fine. Wearing as a piece of jewelry, I'd say it's oversized.

It's far too big, and it's not a matter of photography. The lugs overhang your wrist, and the thickness is massively out of proportion. It's got to be very uncomfortable to wear.

Even though it's a beautiful piece, you'll never be able to enjoy it the way you deserve to.

I think if you’re making a list of this on a public forum you probably feel it is a tad big. The reality of watches is that worst diameter is only one aspect of what looks appealing. The shape and flat width is probably more important. For example you could have a person with a wider 6.5 inch wrist where this watch looks better than a person with a 7.5 inch rounder wrist.

Like others have mentioned only you can decide if this looks cool or stupid. I can tell you that I was in a very similar position a few years ago. I came to realize a good potion of my watches just looked stupid on my wrist. So I got rid of most of them. I kept 2 larger watches both are 44 mm and even those looks stupid so they literally sit in the box collecting dust.

The good news for you is that if you do decide to part with this you will not have any issues selling it.

it looks a little big, but not ridiculous or anything. It looks good, just looks like you prefer bigger watches. To me in falls into that realm of personal preference.

I had the SD43 and found it a tad top heavy. I have a 7.5 inch wrist so it wasn’t the size, it just felt cumbersome. I also tried the deepsea some time ago and that was worse. I resolved the SD43 by wearing it tighter than I usually wear a watch but finally ended up letting it go.

I think Its too big for you , a 5 or 6 digit submariner may suit your wrist size better .But your the one who will be wearing it , so it’s up to you . But if you keep the watch will you keep thinking is the watch to big for me every time you wear it , which if that was my thought it would spoil the enjoyment of wearing it , if you get what I mean .

The lugs overhang so that's clearly too big in my books.

Have you taken a look at the 16600 Seadweller?

I don't think it's too big. That being said, if I had a wrist like yours, I'd happily rock a sub. The sub would fit you the way the SD43 fits me. Perfectly. I've got an 8" wrist and large arms, I could pull off big watches but outside a couple Panerai and my Explorer (on the other end of the spectrum), I prefer 42-44mm watches as they fit me the way a 40mm Rolex fits someone with a 6.5~7" wrist. Not big and not small. Just right.

This is what I stated in my review if the SD43 and what I always advise people to do. Wrist pictures taken with an iPhone or any smartphone will bloat the watch out of proportions and make it look huge.
The 40mm Rolex models look on my wrist so small that I couldn't even consider buying one but those same watches looks big enough on my wrist when I take a picture of them with my iPhone.
The SD43 looked to my eyes surprisingly small compared to how it looks like in pictures, I confess that I was even hoping it is a bit bigger.
This thing is PERFECTION.

I have small wrists, but wear 44mm to 31mm. If I like the watch comes first, size comes second.

I really wish I could wear one, but it looked kind of ridiculous on my 7” wrist. I can wear most 40mm watches, but 36mm is the sweet spot.

To me, seeing a guy wear a too big watch is like seeing a small kid wearing his dad’s shoes.

i wonder.

for all of you folks that think its too big, are you owners of 4- or 5-digit references?

and also have you ever seen a Panerai?

it’s such a wide array of opinions, one of the great (and sometimes maddening) things about this hobby.
