My go to everyday watch is my GMT II 116710LN (besides my apple watch lol)

Its banged up, scratched all along the bracelet and clasp, but I don't care I love it...

Anyone else wanna share their favorite banged up watch?

I am still learning how to add pictures properly so give me a few mins. lol

I don't pamper my Rolex/Tudor watches, so their going to show some wear, but on the other hand, I don't have any watches that compare with Jocke's beater DJ.

All my watches have minor scratches throughout. It’s a normal part of wearing and enjoying watches

I've read many different responses to this on this forum. Basically two camps:

Camp 1: I don't go out of my way to damage it... I don't baby it... I wear it every day - here it is with hydrochloric acid all over it from cleaning with it on... etc

Camp 2: I think a bit of lint fell on the clasp - would this bug you guys? Should I sell it?

^ plus an additional 6 months of wear.

I don't go out of my way to damage it by any means, I just wear it for everything, and once the scratches started to build up I didn't care. I take care of my Explorer much better.

May I introduce a 3rd Camp: Wear the watch with wrist awareness. Do not baby but it isn’t beat-up, either.

I neither baby nor abuse my watches. So far, the older they are, the more scratches and marks they have. In general my collection is ageing gracefully. I loupe makes some of them look like the surface of the moon. But I don't walk around with loupes stuck on.

I use, not abuse, my fine Swiss timepieces. For heavy work I prefer to use my modded Seiko divers. As Harry says above^, aging gracefully is always the goal.

What is considered 'worse', an end to end scratch on the bracelet that you can't feel with your thumbnail but is noticeable from a few inches away, or a small ding on the inside groove of a lug that you can only really notice if you try and see it?

I was just thinking mine looks more banged up then I thought. The shot taken today show the scratches on the bracelet.

OT dont have a rolex but my new AP is at no scratches after 4 weeks (of daily wear). Definitely in the wrist awareness camp.

I'm just not the type to bang or scrape my watches against stuff, don't even know how I would end up doing that very often. So my watches all pretty much look like new. The biggest reason is probably that I don't rest my wrists on the desk while on my computer, since I got RSI from compressing my nerves doing that years ago.

That's 9 years of daily wear without really doing anything risky whatsoever. I'm pretty sure there isn't a link that isn't completely covered in scratches.

What's funny is that I freaked the first time I scratched it. And now, I don't even know where that original scratch is - nor do I care :)

Note: Anything on the crystal or bezel are just fingerprints.

I’ve only seen one scratched ceramic bezel. Never scuffed. It’s pretty durable stuff except to impact.
