Any avid bird watchers, or have bird feeders in the yard?
So my 4 year old asked to get a bird feeder... so the wife and I landed the boys up and went to the local wild birds unlimited store, a quick introduction into bird feeding and types of bird feeders, we bought 2 poles, and 4 bird feeders. Pretty good introductions by the staff.. and after a easy install... now we are waiting.
So this morning we had steak and eggs, and watched the activity at the bird feeders. So far we have had a plethora of birds. cardinals bluejays finches woodpeckers (3 different kinds) Its very calming, and the boys love it.

Nice!
I would recommend a pair of 8x32 binoculars and the SIBLEY bird book. Enjoy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Bird watching in the top end of Australia is a treat. I usually have a pair of Leica ultravid 10x25 with me.

I enjoy birds, have a couple different feeders, birdhouses, and a couple chickens as pets. Enjoy watching birds whenever I get a chance.
They're pretty fascinating not just to watch but also to learn about. Bernd Heinrich has written some great stuff if that kind of thing interests you. Australia has so many interesting species, you're a lucky guy milov! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Having a bird feeder and watching different kinds of birds is a great activity/pastime.
On the other hand, if there were nothing but crows and seagulls coming around, the experience would probably become a drag as these particular species are little more than garbage-men of the avian world and an all too common nuisance in many places. |

I'm off to Thailand next week for a well earned holiday. Hope to get some bird watching in at Kao Sam Roi Yot National Park whilst there.

I wouldn't say avid, but I have found that I enjoy birdwatching. They are quite entertaining creatures. Twenty years ago if you would have told me that I would enjoy this hobby I would have laughed at you.

I wouldn't consider myself a bird watcher but I am an avid bird photographer. They really are fascinating creatures and the more I learn about them the more I appreciate them.

I thought my 600 was expensive until I started buying watches! Photography is cheap.
