There are still honest people !

My wife went out for dinner tonight with some ladies that we use to work with .
One of the ladies had her daughter with her and she was telling them about an estate sale she went to .
85 year old lady that had Alzheimer's had died .
The daughter was looking in some boxes down in the basement that were marked $2.00 a box and in one of them she found a watch with some diamonds on the dial. She looked real close and said she saw Rolex on the dial !!! She took it up to the auctioneer and gave it to them !
I just hope the auctioneer is also an honest person !

Agreed!!

Unfortunately there are way too many people who would call your friend stupid for doing so. Is there any wonder why there are so few that have any integrity.

When I hear stories like these it certainly makes me happy and restores some faith in humanity. Knowing that someone out there did the right thing is very nice.

Kudos to the young lady for doing the right thing. In regards to the auctioneer, I would follow Ronald Reagan’s advice, trust but verify.
Then again it’s quite possible the watch was a counterfeit.

Great! Nice to hear we still have some good people in the world, I wonder if the auctioneer will be as honest as required.

Am I the only one here who would have paid the $2.00 for the box?

That was the right thing to do

But as mentioned above, high chance it wasn’t genuine based on the circumstances.

Probably the only one who’s gonna admit it

I am not sure I see this as an "honesty" issue. The box was marked at a price, not by the potential buyer, but by the prospective seller. The person could have bought the box and walked away with a clear conscience in my opinion.

I see this more of a statement of "Character". The potential buyer had enough character to do what they felt was right, regardless of how much they could have possibly gained.

As my grandfather told me... A persons character shows by what they do when no one is looking.

Sounds like the lady who found the watch and gave it to the auctioneer made some good karma points.
