Yard Work - Colorado Style
I was riding down Waterton Canyon outside of Denver and had to laugh at this scene at the house of one of the Denver Water Dept. managers that live up in this remote canyon so they can manage Strontia Springs Reservoir.
This guy must save a ton on his landscaping service bill. Only problem is he is probably stuck in his house until they decide that they are done.

And these were two of the big boys facing off a couple of years ago in the same area.

That's interesting that we're adjusting our thinking on more natural ways of dealing with "field maintenance".
400 goats were used to clear the grasses beside the roads in Sonoma County to deal with fire prevention. https://www.sonomacountygazette.com/...ntion-mission/ http://www.sonomawest.com/the_healds...24764aa25.html There are few people that rent them out for people to use for their acreages as well.

When I was working at Sony West corporate a few years ago there was a large field next to the building, they would have goats now the lawn, I could see them from my office and it was fascinating to watch for some reason.

Sounded like a .308 going off 30 feet away!
Each time they hit, they would stand back for a couple of minutes shaking off the impact before going at it again.

My former book keeper moved to the Colorado West Slope and now raises goats! She constantly talks about the calming effect they have on people.

My first job here was up at the Gennesse exit off of 70 (a great place to have a tech company, on a rural power grid) not far from the Chart House. Often we would have Elk or other wildlife in the parking lot. You left work when they were ready.

I absolutely support this! I thought I was weird. Well, I am but I remember being all upset about something at work and just watching the goats for a while; it was like a natural Xanax.

This guy was outside our front door at our mountain house a couple years ago. From my years up in B.C. I know y'all got these guys up there.

We hiked the Cabot trail one summer and ran into one. I swear we were only about 30 feet away and it looked so massive. Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk |

When we were in Grand Teton I was uncomfortably close to this guy who snuck up on me while I was photographing a moose mom and baby across the way. He and another young male literally walked right next to our car, just after I jumped back in!

These guys are so quiet for being so damn big! Last year I was biking behind my house in Winter Park and stopped for a big bull about 50 feet in front of me on the trail. I kept a big tree between me and him until it became clear he wasn't going to move for me. I then turned around to go back the way I came and dang near peed myself to see another big bull 30 feet behind me. I did not even hear him moving up on me. Fortunately, he was more interested in moving down the hill than he was in me.
