I thought I'd be doing that but man, I just love seeing them all..For most of my years with watches they were always wrapped up and in safes.

Not anymore!

I have a wall mounted safe but it's really a placeholder for now..I used one I had and it's nothing great..

But still it's a lot of watches and that would be too big..

You can try Scatola del Tempo watch box, the Valigetta series carry up to 32 watches.

When I lived in the suburbs I had a heavy safe installed in a closet. I could simply move the watch box to the safe anytime I was going to be away.

Now I live in a highrise with multiple layers of security. It would be difficult for someone to get to my floor. I finally invested in a nicer watch box recently, Scatola del Tempo. Next I will have a safe company come and install a safe in one of my closets.

I personally wouldn’t like to keep my collection split up.

I saw those and they are gorgeous.. Most likely I am going to convert the top drawer in the built-ins to store them...Like a large watch box but in the drawer...I'll source a grid and some cushions..Nice project and maybe one of the guys who did some work here can build something for me.

Exactly! When we lived in houses, protocols were completely different for many reasons.

In a high rise as you mentioned along with alarms, safes and security, it's a very different situation.

I agree...the ability to even think of having them all in one place that allows handling and viewing makes this hobby that much more fun!

Just found this..and something like it will be perfect!

Yes it is different. You have to get past the door men and front desk who know every resident. Then you have to get to the elevator. The elevator would not take anyone to my floor unless they rode up with someone else who happened to live on my floor. Each residence elevator fob will only take them to the floor they live on.

That looks cool but not secure enough for me. I frequently have maid service, handy men etc coming in the house. Also, I am single so with any luck, there are beautiful women coming and going. With that set up I would be scared to have the maids clean the house.

Exactly, not to mention other security.. We also don't have to worry about being followed in our cars and having our homes cased out by bad guys!

Yes for sure this solution is not a one and done by any means.

But for most day to days, I love it..and for a cleaning person or when workers are around, I'd put them in one of the safes.

Can't tell you how many years I had my watches and they were almost all stashed away..My cousin was over a couple of years ago and thought it was insane and she sent me the watch box..Once I started using it, I have enjoyed seeing them all in plain sight in a walk in closet and it's a real game changer!

I am really excited to start the drawer organizer thing and also have all my tools and watch related knick knacks in one place.

I like the idea of putting this in my closet
https://www.bosphorusleather.com/col...a-java-brown-1

4 watches in the tray
The rest in a safe
Every week you rotate 4 new watches through
Everything gets worn
Everything else is secure should the worst happen

I would strongly recommend a high-security safe for that many watches (although I am biased because I also love safes).

Yes I put a safe I had in the space during construction but will upgrade it too.

Open to suggestions for wall safes!

I love safes too!

I have an 8-slot watchbox and I will try to sell off a watch I wear the least to fit the collection into 8.

I gave some thought to this when my collection began to grow. My solution has been to reevaluate my collection and try to limit it to 5 watches. I have often traded or consolidated to make this happen. Sure I have let a couple go that I probably should have kept but overall I have been more satisfied with fewer.

I like the specs offered by the AmSec WS line, as it has a pretty decent amount of steel for a wall safe, but it does not have fire. Gardall makes a few products that may be of interest as well.

However, for what it is worth, keep in mind that with a wall safe, you are generally limited to the security and/or fire protection you can get. With the number of watches you have and their approximate corresponding value, in my personal opinion, a safe with a TL-30 rating or higher is the ideal match, ideally with a UL Class 350 or equivalent ETL fire rating, and that opinion is based solely on the pic you showed. If you have even more valuables to put in the safe, this level of protection becomes even more desirable (and, depending what else you put in there, a higher rating such as a TL-30x6 might not hurt).

The smallest TL-30s, which have about 2 cubic feet of internal space, start at around 800 pounds (and in the gun safe sizes can be 2,000 pounds, 3,000 pounds, or more) as these safes have a lot of armor and are capable of withstanding prolonged and sophisticated attacks. Consequently, they would not be wall models. With this sort of safe, you would potentially also get an insurance discount that you would not get from just any safe (and potentially more so if paired with an alarm system).

There are some TL-30/TL-30-equivalent safes that you can have watch display cases/winders installed inside of, and even customize their design with hard woods. The Brown Gem series, specifically the Ultra Gem with composite cladding, is a great example of this, although the price of this is much, much higher than a more utilitarian TL-30 safe. Here is an image of one of the many configurations offered:

I use 20 slot watch boxes, there sitting on a large dresser in the open. There is always threat of fire, theft etc. There all insured with zero deductible, double independent security camera systems, a 357 and two German Shepards. My family is the only thing that's not replaceable.

That is also part of my protocol for extended times away..But have to tell someone in the unlikely event you never come back!

I never thought I'd have so many but I love them all and the memories associated. They hold their value and keep up with inflation. I love owning them which includes seeing them everyday. For most of 25 years they were never seem all together.

For most of the time owning them, they were not insured. Now that they are all fully insured for agreed upon value, I don't have to worry about that and in the end they are just objects.

THank you for the post and information. I live in an apartment and am limited to space, size and weight!

Some beautiful safes for sure. I'll probably upgrade the safe when I am finished with the renovation.

The best plan I came up with is having a decoy wall safe behind some art in the bedroom and filling it with fake watches..Can you imagine a burglar breaking into a high rise condo, with cameras, elevators and doormen, getting into the apartment, finding the decoy safe filled with fake Rolexes and not being thrilled with the score? They would leave fully satisfied!

I'll leave some box and papers if they wanted to sweeten the score!

Your floors are strong enough to support 2,000lb in one small area? Unless on a slab I would be worried.

My cousin gave me an inexpensive but decent storage/display box for 12 watches.

Now I have 14 Rolexes plus another 5 or so watches.

For security when I am not around I don't keep them in the display of course but for day to day, I do love looking at them and choosing which to wear.

Wondering how some collectors deal with this. I know many keep some in safety deposit boxes at the bank but that's not for me. Looking at them is a really fun part of collecting.

One idea I thought of but haven't researched yet is some 2 level display storage box or something with some drawers to store straps, screws and tools at the same time.

I used to keep each one wrapped up and in a safe but I think I like this just a little better!

This is how I display my small collection. Two on the winder (Wolfe Axis Copper), and one on the wrist.
