Just be patient and buy at MSRP. If you can't get something now, still wait, because your time will come before too long.
(Albeit, not on TRF, but...) I was around in the 2000s, and I prioritized using "forum authorized dealers" who offered the largest discounts over patronizing one AD, and that bit me in the behind in the recent environment. That was not great for the watch market either - I remember I bought a Speedmaster for nearly 35% off! Hopefully, we will return to some sort of equilibrium, and the balance between customer and AD/brand will be restored. |

i just dumped my 116613LB for 14K .... no one doesn't want to touch this watch or many are offering 11.5k ish to 12K max.
This market will collapse faster than S&P 500 and BTC. |

In the last ABTW podcast they had a guest from Watchpro that stated they expect prices to keep falling for the rest of the year from the whiplash effect as supply keeps piling in even though demand has fallen through the floor. Buyers should be patient, it is still early.

keep buying the hype when you don't like the watch. it is an "investment". all data from watchrecon - numbers don't lie. if you took investment advice from a jewelry seller you are going to have a bad time.

Wow DSW is not even offering for a Smurf? Hopefully this will finally get rid of flippers and people that we’re buying via debt expecting to never lose money.
Let’s see how many of the new age watch dealers survive this. The watch world needed a reset they’re just taking a bit longer to reflect true market value to try and minimise loss. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I guess one man's bad is another man's good. I'm hoping resale values decrease and Rolex investors F-off to the point we can walk into an AD, buy what we want, and not play games.

I called DSW yesterday to see what he would pay for a BNIB black OP 41 as I was considering one. The salesman said that they were not interested because they just purchased one below retail. That said, still waiting for my AD to call me for the DJ41 that I ordered 16 months ago.

I was offered 34K for a Smurf of mine from a gray dealer last week. Said offer was only good for 48 hrs in the current environment, and they already had 2 in stock. Their plan was to sell for 44K. I decided not to sell, as I'd have to wait a while for the next piece and I quite like the Smurf.
I asked 2 ADs that trade in pre-owned as well, and they both advised taking the gray deal as they couldn't get close, and couldn't promise that I'd get the next piece I have my eye on any time soon. Sent from my SM-F700U1 using Tapatalk |

Dont sell and enjoy the watch. This “value” talk will poison the joy right out of your ownership experience.

I think a lot of secondary dealers are holding stock that they paid so much for they aren't even listing it presently, and they are probably hesitant to buy now unless they can not only get it for an extremely low price, but are confident they can flip it very rapidly before secondary market prices fall further.
That particular watch (while IMHO one of the coolest made by Rolex) is probably a slower mover compared to some other references. My AD currently has several of these and have had them for quite a while. |

An option is to sell your Smurf here on TRF and get much more than wholesale.
But you may have to accept less than the trusted sellers’ retail asking prices. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I’m gonna edit and add that I sure have been thinking long and hard about my first foray into WG with adding the new 126619. Sure is a damn good looking watch and there are a few hanging around BNIB at 40k for sale. I just might do it but also may wait a tad to see if they drop even lower. Not exactly like I need another watch.

On a different note there is a Chocolate “505” for sale here on TRF, well one of many that aren’t moving so I enquired on one with a trade of my Chocolate “515” and was told I need to pay 20k difference.
Yeah, um hell no. I’d wait till hell freezes over or not have one at all for that deal. That “505” and all the rest can keep getting bumped

Haha, funny because I sold mine a few weeks ago for the same amount... only sold because I recently had the opportunity to get the 126613lb.

No just kidding, kind of. Actually I believe he likely made enough profit on it and was willing to sell it to me at a great price for immediate cash in hand. I have checked it inside and out thoroughly and had one of my watchmaker associates check it as well and everything looks the part and pass the tests.

Although according to this recent FT article, even though their share price is down 50% they claim they are going gangbusters......

The only buyers left are die hard watch enthusiasts. And, I remember those guys saying the Hulk is too much green and consequently unwearable. Brand new Hulks were like 9k. I bet a ten year old used one will go for less in a few months, assuming a buyer can be found. |

I think the newly imposed rule is going to destroy their magins! I know many many people who bought multiple non-rolex brands just to have a chance of getting a professional model! Now those same people wouldn't even buy a DJ 41, let alone a non-rolex watch! If you think Rolexes are going to MSRP, WOSG is a great short imho! |

I've noticed certain references down about 50%. But others not even 10%. In my opinion I'm no where near ready to buy. And still way over msrp
