Rare 5512 Dial?

Hello RF Vintage forum... new to 5512 / Submariners but have always admired from afar and may have found my opportunity to buy one.

Image of the watch can be found here: https://imgur.com/a/bIov4kz

Spent a bunch of time reviewing this thread: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=642247

I wish I had better pictures... but I can confirm the following from having looked at the watch.

5512 case and case back
24XXX Serial --> ~1970
Crownguards: rounded - look to be correct
Movement: 1570 --> appears to be correct
Bracelet: Aftermarket, stamped with 78350... service or aftermarket
Text: 600 ft / 200m / Submariner / SCOC... order is correct but there was something I couldn't figure out...
Insert: Looks okay to me but I don't have a great eye for these yet and this picture isn't great... I get it...

The RUB.... the dial looks funky...the Superlative Chronometer text is wide. I could not find another example online with the text so wide. I was convinced this was a franken until I found the following one sold at Bob's in Newport: https://www.bobswatches.com/vintage-...atte-dial.html

So I'm stuck, seller wants a healthy price but it's not even worth looking if the dial is no good. Curious if anyone here has any info on this dial variant. Perhaps a bad repaint? Perhaps a rare find? Hard to say. I can't imagine that Bob's would sell a flawed watch... I know that Subs from this time period are very difficult. Thanks in advance!

Can you get a clear in-focus photo in good lighting where the hands are not obscuring the printing?

It's either a re-done dial, or just a fake. I've never seen the COSC text that long. Here's my 5512 for comparison.

Thanks both!

Working on getting better pictures...

Any sense of why Bob's would sell the one listed above with the similarly strange dial? Either an indication of something rare or just a bad dial...

I think the first feet-first 5512s did have slightly longer COSC text, as did the last of the meters-first matte dials. (Mine is a 3.7 million). But I've never seen it quite that long.

Have you found any others besides the one on Bob's that look like that? I certainly wouldn't use that one example as a definitive guide. More detailed photos would help.

Interesting - Paul Altieri owner Bobs Watches is a stand-up guy and pretty thorough in appraisals etc I'd say .

Rather intriguing this be interested to hear others thoughts.

Perhaps we should fund a kickstarter for Beaumont or someone to do a similar one to the excellent 5513 site that I bet one of us uses every day !

What's wild is that this SC text is narrower vs. the example I've posted -- you can see the C24 one is flush with the lume plots whereas in the one I posted the text extends over the edge of the plots. Mystery and intrigue...

Yes sorry I took the meters first down by mistake - it's say 5.5 letters overhang over OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED below - but the watch you put up and Paul Altieri sold is a full 6 letters (SUP on left and TER on right) overhanging - so yes different.

All good - all these variations lead me to have greater suspicion about the dial on the one I'm looking at...

Picture seems to have been photoshopped.

(@swish77 your 5512 is THE BEST)

Edit: Might very well be phone reflection

I'll probably be burned at the stake for posting another crap quality photo, but the watch is sadly not with me. Here is a clearer shot of the dial.

I've passed on the watch and decided at this point that this is likely a bad dial, but just wanted to post out of curiosity for the community.
