I don't understand that attitude, probably never will. To me, it's just a watch...one that is hardly ever accurate at that.
Well to each his own... I'm a sentimental guy.

To some, obtaining their first Rolex is a mark of achievement. To those fortunate enough to inherit their father's Rolex, wearing it brings back memories of their dad.

So yes, it's just a watch, but it also serves as a personal reminder (and not just to tell the time.)

Back to topic: disclose what you will. If you don't feel comfortable sharing, then don't.

Funny that you said that; my sister is the only one I've ever told because she is the only person close to me who is into Rolexes.

She asks my advice on them so of course price comes up.

She currently is wearing a RG DD with a white Roman dial and a domed bezel...

After swirling it around briefly I put it down with the watch now at the bottom of the glass. I told him, yes it is a Rolex and it is worth every damn penny I paid for it. I next challenge everyone at the table to put there watch in the water but got no takers. Strange no one in the office has ask me about my Rolex since.
Suddenly I feel like selling my whole collection.

I joined years back to be able to see attachments. I just posted here because I had been thinking of this question myself recently.

Arguably I've only owned my watch for a short time, and in addition it's not very attention-grabbing. I am in a decidedly working-class profession and to me, it's good form to keep a low profile about what some could consider extravagant luxuries.

One of my co-workers is a collector of writing instruments and he 'gets' my interest in watches - he is pretty much the only person (aside from my GF) who knows I spent so much on a watch, as I was certain he would appreciate it.

As we are both fans of Arrested Development, after I got my watch, I started getting teased about being the guy in this video clip:

No one has asked me how much I paid for my watches but they don't hesitate to ask how much I paid for my cars... If it's a close friend / family I tell them the amount and if it's not, I just say not as much as you're probably thinking.

An Afghan shopkeeper asked me yesterday and I just told him "A lot." He didn't think my watch was real anyways, because it being on a RubberB. I suppose it's another good reason to have it on a RubberB while in the desert. I'd hate to get my throat cut for my watch.

A lot of these answers won't work on some of the people...they will end up asking, "so, how much?"

I was enquiring with my household insurance company today as to whether my watches should be listed under the 'Contents' part.
She asked how much they were worth and I said "depends on whether you mean 'replacement' or what they are worth second hand."
She seemed to think that as they weren't insured separately they would just be considered under 'Contents' at replacement value.
I said "Well in that case, say $10K each." I heard her jaw hit the desk in the background. Clearly she had never handled this kind of enquiry before. Most people have never thought about expensive watches.
(I was tempted to tell her that some people have a couple of dozen and they are all worth more than $10K)

For you this is the only true answer as every watch you have ever posted on here has been a fake so you finally are truthful here.
