"smart" lock for the house
Since lately all the talk seems to be about smart things......
Looking to add a smart lock to our front door and was wondering if you guys (and gals) had any experience with them. If so, why did you opt for the one you did. What do you like/not like about it. August smart lock seems to have the best ratings everywhere but quickset and schlage seems to make good offerings. Thanks in advance! |

I have the august. It's easy to give access to friends and family without having to make a physical copy of a key, plus pet sitters, etc. You can also limit the days/time someone has access, or delete them whenever you like. Be ready to stock a ton of AA batteries though, goes through 4 every 2-3 months depending on how often you use it.

We have the Schlage with the keypad. It's pretty basic without any wifi/bluetooth/remote control. We prefer not to have that at this point.

I've been looking for one that works with the door at my condo.
Really liking this one from Yale that works with the nest thermostat. Also on this link they offer one with a small camera. https://uncrate.com/article/nest-x-yale-lock/ |

I just envision some 12 year old hacking all these systems.

Same here. Works good for us. Having a detached garage it’s a must have.

We have Schlage wifi connected to Wink 2 hub. Its good when we already left the house and forgot to lock doors, just use the app on iphone. Also have it schedule a daily lock every night.

I have a Schlage lock with keypad and remote. Works great!
I also added a "Ring" doorbell with camera, and motion! I love this device!
