Cartier SIHH 2018
I see some nice additions from Cartier this year. Namely the Drive ultra thin in steel and the return of the Santos with an in-house movement, screw down crown, 100M wr and quickchange strap and link system.
As I’m sure many here know the santos is arguably the first wristwatch so there’s a cool bit of history to go along with it (Ablogtowatch)

The Drive Ultra Thin in SS is the clear winner for me. Great looking watch at a great price point. Does this watch have a display back? The Piaget movement that Cartier uses is pretty so it’s worth seeing imo.
The Santos is also a great looking watch. Love the bracelet! |

Quite tempted with the santos (heard there is a smaller no-date version too).

The Cintree watches look the most interesting to me. They don’t have the classic dial that tanks are know for, but they do look awesome.

Yeah the cintree also having a big year. I just can’t get use to that shape on my wrist. I feel the same about the reverso.

The new Drive in SS is a winner, the best at SIHH this year. Of course, the people that bought the WG LE Drive from a few years back, that looked exactly the same, should be annoyed.

The Cintree has always been kind of “meh” for me. Same with the Americaine. The Crash is pretty awesome, but best suited for ladies, IMO.

I’ve debated getting a drive Variant since release, I really like to ultra thin I. Steel, wish it had a seconds hand, but I’d like to get one eventually.
The Santos is pretty cool, although I’ll likely just appreciate at a distance. |

I've been a Santos fan for as long as I can remember and it actually was the watch that started me on this watch collecting obsession I have. I still own the original Santos I got back in high school from my dad after I drove him nuts for years because I wanted to watch so bad. Sadly the watch doesn't get any wrist time anymore since it's now small compared to my other watches. That being said, the original will always be a special timepiece for me.
I actually like the update but only on the stainless and all gold versions. On the gold and stainless version the change of the iconic bezel (if we want to call it that) is too drastic for me. I can see adding the stainless version to my collection. |

I love the idea of a quick change bracelet to strap.
I'm taken with the idea of a yellow gold bracelet, but It's too much for everyday wear and so my yellow gold bracelet is ticked away, replaced by a strap. The Santos would make it easy to wear and change. That could be the solution. Plus, it is anti-magnetic and water resistant to 100m. Seems very wearable, a complement or replacement for a Rolex, easily. |
