Blue Dial? 116613LB
I am curious if anyone knows off the top if the new bluesy ceramic subs (116613LB) are produced with a uniform blue dial for recent model years. I have seen some for sale in the other parts of this forum and there is reference to a "sunburst" type, blue dial on those being sold -- and there is clearly a hue-spectrum under the light for those models. Some other models for sale clearly have a more solid / flat / non-metallic dial.
Are all models now produced with this non-metallic dial? -- I tried to find updated answer in the "Reference" area of the forum but could not find a definitive answer. |

When the 116613lb was introduced a few years ago it had the flat blue dial as you are referring to. I believe it was this past year Rolex changed the dial back to the sunburst blue (darker blue sunburst appearance). This is the newest of the dials and is quite similar to the past 16613lb.

Yep, what they said. I would only add that the sunburst is an amazing watch.

So,...I take it that (other than the physical appearance of the dial), it is safe to say that most everything lies in the serial number of the watch one would be buying? And as long as there are 8-digits, then it will be known that the watch is later than 2010 -- leaving no difference if the serial number begins with a "letter" that was previously used as the first "digit" in other model years -- correct?
Of course, vici mentioned that Rolex apparently brought back the star-burst blue dial in the middle of the ceramic TT sub model. However, I am trying to learn/better understand what to look for when buying a Rolex from "grey" market dealers. I do not know fully how they are able to sell genuine watches with full warranties, but it seems that one could be buying a nearly decade old watch sitting in storage, for example. |

There are plenty of threads about grey sellers, check em out.
With 116613LB sunburst dial as pointed out by alex (vici) it was part of basel 2013 so you can be sure that the watch is manufactured no sooner than 2013. |
