Agreed.

As to gold itself, always classy. Always in style. At least with me, and that's always what matters.

I feel statements like this are why some people have a preconceived image of Rolex wearers as a whole that is just my opinion.

It was more about the point of WG being stealth and YG is in yow face bling.

I think its more about the fact that some people live in their own world where they think people wont have an issue with it when clearly a lot of people would.

A WG watch is below the radar and if you are with some people who clearly will consider your £25k watch obscene then to them its just a white metal watch and not a bright yellow solid gold reminder of how much you take home.

This is my view, love vintage YG with leather straps......I think this is still the epitome of a classic 'gold watch' look, rather than the all YG watch and bracelet look.
WG watch and bracelet though, like the WG Sub and GMT looks great.

Yes. I know guys that wear Timex or Casio and they are complete douche nozzles. The watch doesn't mean a thing.

A yellow gold Rolex is not for me. I prefer to be a bit more understated, in fact I feel strange wearing a SS Sub C. On the other hand I wouldn't judge anyone else if they chose a gold Rolex- I judge a person by their actions not clothes, cars or watches.

There seems to have been a decent amount of threads on this similar subject recently.

If you had asked me two years ago, I would have been very against gold being that I am under 30 and thought it was too flashy.

Since then, I have turned my hobby into my livelihood and I often wear gold pieces as they are in stock. I have come to like them a lot, especially the weight and feel. Maybe I feel more comfortable because I am in the business, but I don't think it's too flashy personally. As many have already said; I think it's all about how its worn.

Not douchey in my books.
Personally, I have all my suits tailored as I am quite built and cant get any that fits right off the rack. And I rock my TT YMII with my navy blue pinstripe with peak lapels.
Wouldn't go for the LV bag myself, but if I had to buy a LV product, a bag or suitcase would definitely be it, given its heritage and known execllence.

Some can pull it off (wearing a gold watch) and others, it doesn't really matter what they wear.

Now now, Kilyung, we are all appreciative of you.

In particular, some of your early work is just now gaining the press it has long, long deserved: http://www.theatlantic.com/science/a...n-site/484070/

Gold Rolex?

Total d-bag move. Only reason you buy one is to show off because you are insecure.

Now if this upset you and you want to prove me wrong, please buy the me DD40 in RG. 60th anniversary model with green dial. I'll wear it to see what happens. Now I don't want to make a snap judgement, so I'll need to keep it and see what it's like. I promise I'll report back here.

Any takers?

TBH I am part of this camp. I run a small investment firm and have created a company culture that is laid back, sporty yet very professional. We have a punching bag, kettle bell and a bench at the office. That's why I always wear my DSSD for work.

I am also a community organiser and social activist, which means I work with a grassroots crowd on a regular basis. Again DSSD is my watch of choice or my 1675. Rocking a gold watch in these circumstances seems to be a dick move when most of the constituency whom I serve could barely afford to feed their families.

I only wear my TT and my WG privately. I do appreciate a YG sub which I think is beautiful. But it goes against my public persona.

Do go ahead and feel sorry for me...

I have seen many guys over 35 who i would consider douchey and at the same time have seen many guys under 35 who i would consider classy. It's all about how you present and carry yourself. If a person does not feel comfortable wearing yg, then it will show. Perhaps it is best to stick to what you are comfortable with and in all honesty, wear what you want and not worry what others think.

Nothing douchey about this reference.

What truly is funny and I have been saying for a while now is that 99.999999999% of people have absolutely no idea what watch you have on, if you even have a watch on nor do they give a crap. I pay attention and if I see you wearing a gold Rolex I will think you are cool and wish I could spark up a conversation with you. Unless you look like a hippie.

Most gold watches I see are MC or Invicta anyway.

Wear what you like. Confidence require courage. It takes courage to follow your own path, but it must truly be your path. If you do that, you can wear anything with confidence and you won't come off like an ass.

The watch is fine.

But wearing it hanging over the back of his hand is one point for you.
