Explorer I stopped working

Yesterday I took a break from wearing my 2015 Explorer I. It has been keeping perfect time up until now. I put it back on today and noticed that it had stopped working. I initially thought that it just needed to be wound and I have done that a few times now. The seconds hand has ticked briefly off and on for probably 50 seconds over the 30 minutes. What should I do?

either repeatedly bang it very hard off the sole of your shoe ,,,
or take it for a service / repair ,,, you decide which action you prefer....

Did you wind crown 40 FULL revolutions?

If so, and watch will not run, warranty time.

Sometimes after winding you have to swirl the watch like a glass of wine to get the movement running.

its still under warranty , it certainly shouldnt even need swirled , full wind , crown back in and snugged and off it should go , failing that you should be llooked after by rolex themselves.

Just remember a winder simply maintains the current tension in the mainspring.
As I asked you did you wind her up 40 full turns?
Seems fishy for something to just go amiss after running perfectly on a consistent basis.

I did not count the exact number of turns but I wound it a similar amount to when my other Rolex or Omegas die. I will do an exact 40 turn wind when I get back.

Nothing magical about 40. If you wound it a couple dozen times and it's not running, it needs to go in for service.

Sound like the main spring has broken.

Strange part is stop working when you decided to stop wearing it. Before then you were wearing it every day?

Bummer! Did you buy it from an AD? If so and they do Rolex authorized service I'd take it in for them to take a look at it. I'm thinking it maybe just pissed because you haven't taken it on enough Exploring recently. I hope it's a quick and easy fix.

Explorer I stopped working

I just pulled it off the winder and manually wound it for 30-40 times. Pulled the crown in and out a few times but nothing happened. The seconds hand only moved a few seconds when I tapped the side of the case on my wood dresser, the hand did not move upon any swishing or swirling movements😝. That feels like a trifecta of bad signs.
Strange that it died on its day off. It is possible that my kids wacked it somehow. I had previously worn it everyday for the last couple months.

I bought the Explorer secondhand but I have the warranty card and original receipt from a US AD. Can I just take it to my local AD? I live near San Jose in CA.

I'm in the Bay Area as well. I'd take it to Kroman Watchworks (Camden neighborhood). They do good work, but you need to be clear with them: NO polishing, NO swapping without checking first.

I've also used the RSC (not official) in SF at the Shreve building at Post and Grant.

I sent my Explorer to Dallas RSC and now I am anxiously awaiting its return. My problem started with a metal like noise coming from the casing followed by watch stopping to work. When I pulled the crown, it was loose and not engaged.

Is it still under warranty? If so, send it to Dallas RSC yourself. AD's like to make a buck off sending your watch in. Call the Dallas RSC and avoid the middleman. RSC requires USPS registered mail. It is very safe and you can insure up to 25K. Cost is around 30-40 for shipping.
Still perplexed why it just died?

What is the date on the warranty card? Depending on selling date you may still have warranty on it.

That means you have 5 years of warranty if sold by a Rolex AD

Can SF RSC also do warranty work? Is one RSC better than others?

Any RSC can do the work for you on warranty. Some people praise Dallas RSC and talk bad about New York RSC, I havent heard anything bad from SF RSC
