Daytona rotor noise
Hello all. I have a Daytona A series. I hear the rotor noise when I shake it. Is that normal for Zenith movement? I just got it serviced couple months ago.
Please help. Thank you very much in advance. |

If it sounds like the rotor is scraping against the case back, nope, not normal!
To test, hold it mostly dial up and rotate it (a position in which gravity is pulling the rotor against the case back). Then do the same dial down (when gravity is pulling the rotor away from the back). If the winding noise is much louder dial up, you're probably scraping and need to get it looked at ASAP. |

Like GUB said that depends of the noise. If it's a scraping noise you should get it check. Otherwise el primero daytona are the loudest rolex due to the ball bearing rotor.

I would do a little digging with the search bar on the forum, I remember researching rotor noise and found that it was common with daytona's however i do not know what year range movement (if it has ever changed) ect. i am no daytona expert i just remember reading many people reported noise with the Daytona.
In addition if this thread stays alive someone will say dont shake your watch but what is the fun in not being super OCD about your watch, its half the fun and also half the heart ache. |

First cannot see why you posted this in the vintage watch forum, and why are you shaking your watch. All ball bearing rotor pendulums will make some sound when the pendulum swings that normal. Some movements like the Valjoux 7750 range you feel it winding on the wrist which is just a quirk of that movement.Ball bearing rotors are mostly slightly louder than say the shaft and sleeve bearings on say the 3 series Rolex movements

Never owned a Zenith Daytona, but the El Primero movement is known to be louder when the rotor winds than some others.

I have many Chronographs. 7750 are indeed noisy. My Zenith Daytona only when it needed service.
