Icon5 116500LN supply and availability

I plan on getting the 116500LN (white dial) next summer to complete my collection. I am in no rush as I have a 116613LB and soon to get the new 116621. So that will give me something to enjoy for a year. I think it's the trifecta. Each watch is very different in style and color. TT YG, TT RG, and SS... I'm wondering when 116500LN (white dial) will be available and high in supply to the point where they sell for 10-20% under MSRP. Do you think that will be by next summer?

Yeah....probably not happening.....judging by how 116520 played out...and the 116500 is even worse.

So...let me answer your question. Rolex has this juggernaut that people are willing to pay thousands over MSRP for...do you see them changing the system that is creating the frenzy?

And if you answer yes to that, by next summer?

I think more of us are wondering when it will be only 10-20% over MSRP.

I'm amazed how in demand the daytona is. Seems to be their best selling model.

funny thing is i figured the 116520 market would tank, but strangely got stronger.

Sure, just buy a platinum Daytona too and not only will one probably magically appear from the vault but they'll let you buy it at retail too.

I wouldn't hold out on that happening. If you want one for 10-20% off, maybe hang around casinos for a bit and find someone losing and almost out of cash.

I never thought that....I was glad they were easier to buy up before the 116500 release. Always thought they're beautiful in a totally different way.

Best selling I'm afraid is till the DJs. The Daytona has a supply and demand issue where the lack of supply prevents from being a best seller. If it were more available perhaps it wouldn't be so sought after.

I disagree with this supply and demand methodology about the Daytona. Let's get real....ADs are getting them on a regular basis and selling them out the back door to grey dealers who are willing paying premium for them and then charge premium on top of premium (17-18k). Once in a while, the AD will make their VIP client happy since they have spent $$$$ in the past. Take a look out there....grey dealers are stocking 3-5 Daytonas. How are they getting them so frequently when every damn AD you talk to claims to get 1-2 per year?

I've heard this come up several times on the forums recently. I'm curious to know if anyone has any hard proof on this. Not calling you or anyone else out for stating this, just honestly wondering if this is based on fact.

I just find it hard to believe that an AD who has most likely invested millions into carrying the Rolex brand would risk their license to make a few extra thousand selling a Daytona to the gray market. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I guess the daytona is out of the question for now... for me at least. I didn't know there was such limited supply. Perhaps in a couple years or so. We'll see. Also is this problem mainly an issue in the US market or worldwide?

It's not a problem, nor an issue. It's the way Rolex has managed the distribution of this watch for decades. It always has been scarce and the most difficult model to get. It won't be changing soon, anywhere.

I know of an AD that was selling them with a 2k markup. Probably still is. Can't say any more unfortunately.

Reseller buys and then adds their premium.

How many grey market dealers are out there will multiple Daytona's? 10, 20, 50?? Even if there were 50 and each had 5, that's still nothing in the grand scheme of production.

Even if there were 200 grey market dealers with 5 Daytona's in stock, its still a tiny fraction of the overall production. How many grey market dealer sell Daytona C's on TRF? the biggest Rolex forum in the world? 15? maybe?!?

Not sure this theory has legs...
