Rolex Yachtmaster midsize 35mm

Hello All,

Just wanted to ask what you think. Is the Yacht-master 1 an in demand piece? The least favored design? I just wonder why the used prices are far less from the retail price.

Im thinking of getting one, but not sure yet. Feel free to chime in...

I don't like Yachtmaster 2, but we are talking about the first one in this post.

It is a great watch, I owned a two tone 35mm with platinum dial for 10 years . I would choose it with either the white dial or platinum dial. I also like the maxi dial plus mine YM1’s band did not stretch, I used my watch everyday, I install cameras and I am rough with it. I ended up selling since my wife got me and her the YM1 platinum set to match each other.

I own one (it's my first Rolex) and find it's a good alternative to the Sub under certain circumstances. Half of my collection being already made of divers, a Sub was not "interesting" enough to include it in the watchbox. Don't get me wrong, the Sub is great watch but not mind blowing enough to me personally to justify going for it. I'm in a minority though. I would have probably started with a Sub had my collection not contained so many divers already but would have missed out on the YM which is a terrific looking piece and very comfortable to wear.

The YM ranks # 6 below the Daytona, Sub, GMT Master II, Sea-Dweller and Explorer. The relative lower demand for it is the reason why pre-owned prices are so low compared to retail. This makes them good value if you like them. A 4 yrs old YM plat dial 116622 for example in good condition and full set will fetch EUR 7,700 on average (USD 8,5 - 9,5K), 33% off MSRP approx.

No, not an in-demand piece. But...a great option for a wife/girlfriend or a smaller wrist.

It is often seen as ladies size, which does hurt demand compared to the 40mm big boy's one. Chicks do dig a Yachty.
