My BLNR got 2 compliments this year outside of ADs, my watch nerd friends, and salespeople.

I had a lady once ask my if my 116520 Daytona was a Michael Kors watch.

My old Explorer 2 everyone ignored it. When I wear my Daytona, the Rolex boutiques either say "thank you for showing me your Daytona" or "is that a fake?" The latter comment came from a Shanghai Rolex boutique inside the iAPM mall. That was really weird.

Usually I wear long sleeves to cover my watches, they are for my enjoyment.

Funny enough, I get more compliments about my Seikos than any other brands.

I gotten many compliment wearing my White 116500LN by people who knows about watches or owns a Rolex. The nicest compliment I got was “your ceramic Daytona matches perfectly to your new white Lexus GS-F”

I know it's not the favorite of the moon watch crowd but there are too many different Speedies out there for my taste, original, gsot, dsot, snoopy, Apollo 17 anniversary, etc. Some are beautiful and some stay with the original design premise. Frankly, I prefer the MKII both old (my '69 with badly fades dial shown below) and new for my money. I just like the styling more. And yes, I agree there is a lot of hype on the Dayton even though I own a new one.

I’ve received a few positive comments on my Datejust in the 6+ years I’ve had it, but couldn’t really care either way. Watches (especially Rolex) are my extravagance & a big interest/hobby of mine. That’s what counts. I didn’t buy it for comments.

Nice MKII Brother Lee!!! I have one from 1969 but with the racing dial. Put a rubber strap on it and it;s my Harley riding watch.

Back to the topic at hand, nobody mentions my watches. I will pay someone a compliment on what they're wearing though. If they engage fine, if not, that's OK too.

Been wearing a Sub of some flavor since 1986. Probably 10 times over that period has someone commented on the watch I was wearing. My serti dialed 16613 Blue got the most comments. Six years now wearing a Hulk and maybe twice I've had comments. Most (95%) of people don't notice or don't care.

I think most people comment on watches that have a bit of color. That is, not black or white.

Very very rarely. Hardly anyone notices Rolex and those that do just ask because they assume any nice watch is a Rolex. I did have this funny situation where this girl knew I had a Rolex and asked me how I could spend so much money on a watch, later she elaborated how “like $500” is so much for just something that tells time. Didn’t have the heart to tell her.

My 11 year old cousin noticed my watch at a XMas party. He asked “ is that a Rolex you’re wearing? Then he requested if he can wear and post it on his Instagram. I wore my 16600 SD that night. I asked him how he knew it was a Rolex, he said every kid at my school wants a Rolex. He even mentioned how he likes DD 40 to me. He offered to buy my 16600 for $1000 lol. No one else noticed my watch, but his Instagram got lots of likes.

I only notice other people’s watches because I actually care and am interested, most people aren’t, and can’t tell one watch from another.

You’d get more comments wearing a big plated no name watch half the time!

Surprisingly I got quite a few "Nice Rolex!" when wearing my Seiko Turtle PADI, much less people commented on my Rolex LOL. Then maybe this $300 Seiko looks better then my other SS Rolex

Do people comment on the Daytona or Rolex you are wearing?

Most people don’t know or don’t care. I think it’s because most men will not look at what other men are wearing. And most women don’t care about watches. That would most likely explain why you’d only get comments from other watch enthusiasts, who are actively paying attention.

Completely agree. I am a woman, my watches never receive compliments from other women (unless at an AD) haha

Men, occasionally, but they are typically wearing high end watches too so...

I'd say most people are not knowledgeable or do not care... I have actually being out with friends and they were getting more compliments on their Michael Kors/apple watch while my 116520 never got a word!

Never got any comments on my Explorerer II. I've noticed several rolexes but never bothered to chase them down with a complement.

This is the great truth of our generation. You would not believe how many people cross the street looking down at their phone instead of looking both ways. It is like they want to be hit by traffic.

I guess to most people it looks like a GMT Master Pepsi on a Jubilee bracelet, which is a well-known classic Rolex look.

I've had a few people comment on my Sub but none on my DateJust yet.

Having 4 Rolex watches that I rotate for the last two months, I got one comment only once in my DJ41 Blue dial, smooth Bezel and jubilee bracelet! Which happens to be my least expensive one but certainly the most “blingy” one lol

I got 2 comments on my 116500 black in total, but only in the last week, the white dial AP ROC I picked up recently received more than 5 - it’s the bracelet and design that attract attention.
My nautilus 5712 has never received any comment at all and 5167 aquanaut only once, where someone thought it was a girls watch that most likely is worn in school... lol

Icon12 This is just my opinion and not subject to criticism...

I feel that it is not just the Comment that is really in play here...There is a much deeper psychology lurking behind the scenes...

If certain individuals, felt more at ease with themselves and their station in life, I feel that everyone who knew about watches would comment because a mechanical watch guy is a watch guy thru and thru.

But there are those who may feel a bit underachieved to say, "Nice watch..." You know like saying to the BOss, "You look great today sir..."

Then there are those on the receiving end, who may have an air about them that may be beyond reproach, and maybe a bit smug. It is difficult to approach that type of individual and say something nice, since he may feel that your insufficiently uneducated enough to speak to him...I have a good example, but the rules wont allow it

Then there are those like myself, who only want you to know that,
"This watch cost more than your CAR!!"

I think the above statement was a joke, but I'm not actually sure...
