Cool story. I fly weekly. My unscientific observation is that senior pilots on the international flights have nice metal watches, including Rolex. Younger pilots seem to have an abundance of Apple and rubber banded watches.

You can’t tell in this pic (obviously) so you’ll have to take my word for it I am wearing my Coke GMT. This is what I looked like about 100 years ago....

I got off a flight late last night, I often talk to the pilots if possible. I asked the captain if he was former military. He said: “Yes, Air Force”. I replied: “Oh sir, I’m so sorry”. Then real loud: “I’ll.... Speak.... Slower”. He grinned widely and said: “Let me guess.... Navy”.
