I had the older model wore it for a year then fell out of love. I do not regret selling it at all! It is a eddy comfy watch but the YACHTMASTER on the bezel is a bit much. Also I think YG is a lot nicer in person then the SS. I would say buy a DSSD instead.

I own the 116688. It’s a great value. When you look at other large sports watches by brands such as AP, you’re paying a lot more. So if you want a large sports watch (especially in gold), then watches like YM2 or DSSD are great choices.

The SS YM2 is a great choice I like the blue hands better. I traded mine towards a gold one too.

Had it in SS. Flipped it. Miss it. Bad. Real Bad.

Dial cluttered and hard to read. Top heavy for a daily wearer. No date. Kinda in your face. Countdown function a novelty at best.

Still though a FANTASTIC piece. This thread has me thinking of getting another one. This is a bad, bad place.

(original hands by a mile)

Not an owner but it always caught my eye as I think it’s one of the most beautiful rolexes!
At the end of the day it’s you who really matter and your opinion is what counts. I’d say if it appeals to you then go for it! It’s a beautiful watch!

It's a great piece that's hard to look away from. The regatta function can also be used while grilling burgers ... 3-4 minutes on each side!

I'm thinking about putting mine on a RubberB when my SkyD arrives ...

I think it's a great watch. Visually stunning, unique complication, flyback chrono, and...nothing else even remotely like it in the line up, and I like that.

If I could've gotten a decent fit with it, it would probably still be with me.

Skinny-ass wrists.

Also, what do you think of the 2017 version ( with new hands ) compared to the 2015 version?

BTW, sharing a very cool pic of YM2 that I found in IG.

After the underwhelming AP SIHH offering, did you decide to go for it?

I've been drooling over the WG model, I want one in the worst way, although I will admit the SS has my eye as well.

It looks big on hand but not as big as you think when wearing it. Big enough to draw attention but not over. Like it special design and not many people have one meaning you seldom see the same watch on the street.

My wrist is not big but still could handle it as my body is not too small size:

The discountinued version looks much colorful and easier to read imo.

Get one. I had TT, but sold to fund DD and I was probably too slim for 44mm, but it drew much. much more attention than my WG DD - if that is your thing! If they dropped its size to 40mm I'd get a PM one.

Okay: To the chase....

I like how it looks, but if I understand the function correctly, the only thing it does besides telling time is giving you a ten-minute countdown timer? I just don’t get it. I guess for a yacht racer it’s perfect. But other than that, what use is that function?

Help me see it, please.

Your technical assessment is spot on. I bought one on the first few words of your comment and NEVER used the function - it simply looked super and that was enough! I've also got an X6 and I'm the only person ever in it...!!!

They are kind of a small market, if the function is what you require.

Read my review, it's in 2 parts. The timer function can be used in different ways.

Excellent wrist presence, dial is kinda busy and sometimes hard to tell the time, also miss have the date function. Great watch and will be noticed by all.

Hope you don't mind getting attention because if you get one, you're gonna get it.

You can use the countdown timer same as you would rotating the bezel on a Sub to time something as simple as boiling an egg. The difference here is, the YM2 does it with style.

The way the function works for a regatta is quite simple seeing as there is technically no starting line so to speak for a yacht race. The boats remain behind 2 floating markers and are given instructions that at the end of the 10 minute mark they are free to advance past the markers. In the meantime, the boats list behind the markers moving about.
