Thinking of Day Date as a Daily

So after watching talking watches with Jack Nickaulas I was inspired on how one watch, a 36mm day date can work as a one and only. I decided to "test drive" and have worn my 18238 for two weeks straight instead of going through my random rotations.

It has been a great two weeks. My DD is definitely my most comfortable watch, despite owning 2 subs with glidelock. Plus it is my favourite aesthetically. I'm starting to think the DD will become my everyday watch. I have no issues with wearing such an expensive watch all the time. There are gold plated Michael Kors everywhere I go, the DD hardly gets a glance. My Sub C will remain for huniting/fishing/beach vacations but I think the DD will become my daily drive. What do you think?

I had the same thought after watching that episode of talking watches and I think there is no issue whatsoever. Let’s be honest, most daily activity can easily be handled even if gold is softer than steel.

Not a bad idea at all; the DD is meant to take it as an everyday time piece for certain.

I'm with you on that. So much so I've been searching for an older DD in WG on a President bracelet for about two years now. Some close calls but no trigger pulled yet.

Perfect daily watch, I do find that the clasp opens when straining my wrist on my 18238.

Day-Dates have always been "everyday" watches.

They have the day of the week for a reason :)

Thinking I might have to try on that RG Olive and the WG Blue dials before I up and do something reeeally crazy.

Agreed, and you could say that about every Rolex model. But not every model is to everyone due to a variety of reasons. I was simply sharing my experience and thoughts and looking for feedback from members on this forum. Sorry that seems to puzzle you.

It looks great on you, beautiful piece.

If I grow up, I’d consider a Day Date as a Monday to Friday watch

Looks very well proportioned on your wrist.

Therefore good decision - wear it in good health, and enjoy. A YG DD on the wrist is always special.

My DD is in the rotation. I wear long sleeve shirts 95% of the time so it being flashy isn’t a problem. I get more comments about HULK than dd

I think if I didn't lead an active lifestyle daydates would easily be a daily....then again it's not like I wear a watch doing all my fitness activities...so maybe you're on to something. Just beautiful all these daydates....all class.

Thinking of Day Date as a Daily

Great daily watch! Mine is WG (18239) and could wear it daily as it is less flashy than YG or RG, perhaps will do the same test myself!
