You should get your money back through eBay. Always be suspicious when they say its was a gift from a relative. This is a scam. I wouldn't be surprised if the watch is a complete fake. If you have a good jeweler that you trust you can have them authenticate is of put in writing that its a fake. The truth is the watch isn't as advertised. I've had this happen numerous time and got my money back every time. More than half the time I've gotten to keep the watch as well because the seller didn't respond or give a valid mailing address.

There is a clip icon on the top of the message window when you are writing a reply. You should upload the image from your computer, and then post it.

Sorry this happened to you, Jim. As has been said, the only safe way to go about buying watches from sources other than an AD is to buy the seller first. Always.

Good luck resolving this issue, it sounds like you are doing what you need to do already.

I have yet to purchase a luxury timepiece online. Looking rather scary these days.

That paperwork is all wrong. This whole deal stinks. Sorry to the OP, but chalk it up to a learning experience and do your best to get back your money.

Flood PayPal with proof you were scammed, including police report, and an appraisal from an AD stating it is a 116610 and not a 116613. Hit them with everything, did he send it USPS? Go claim mail fraud. Put in the leg work. It will be worth it to get your money back.

OP - I'm sorry but the paper work is all incorrect. For a newer watch you should only get the plastic card. The paper was phased out many years ago also, it is mostly always stamped or punched with the serial number and model etc.

Warranty card - Never ever is the Model and Serial written it is always stamped like the Store (in this case Mayors). For future reference, only thing that is ever written on the Warranty card is the Name and Date.

Make sure you file a police report and appraisal from an AD as proof the watch is either a fake or incorrect.

Good luck and keep us posted.

It is unfortunate to hear these stories, I bought my 116610 through Ebay too, now I see that I ran with luck. I hope eBay is responsible for this scam.

And none were as a seller. Only him as a buyer.

Anyway I hope either EBay or PayPal steps up for you.

It seems like a lot of work to go through unless the whole watch is a fake?

Well, this is unfortunate. I agree that I would get the watch authenticated ASAP to see what's what.

Can we see some pics of the watch?

I'm going to say the watch is fake and the bezel/insert MAY be the only authentic part.

We have to see pics of the actual watch. The op haven´t posted them yet.
The pics on the ebay auction may be from a real rolex...

I went through something similar a few years back but
with a local jeweler... it took more than 6 months but
I eventually got all my money back !!! Don’t mess with
it , it’s probably most likely a Frankenstein... just get a
refund and buy the seller going forward !!! This is what
happens when you chintz on a beautiful luxury watch !!!
BUY THE SELLER ALWAYS NOT THE PRICE!!!!
Best of success on a speedy recovery of your funds!!!

6 digit references shouldn't have the paper "garauntee" / warranty... That's for older references. Also I've never seen the card with the reference and serial hand written. All the parts on the warranty card should be filled in as well. (Speaking about bracelet and dial boxes). Besides the AD location on each warranty provided doesn't even match.

Also on the purchaser side, I've never seen it patterned that way either.

The watch in the listing looks like a genuine Rolex, but I doubt the one you received is that same one, is it? He could very well have "taken" those pics from somebody else's Sub and used them for his listing. I have learned from painful past experiences not to trust a seller that gives out too much information, especially where they talk about receiving a Rolex from a grandparent, great uncle, graduation gift, saying things like 'I'm not an expert' (c'mon anybody can get a watch appraised these days, no ones gives away for cheap something that could be of high value that easily) etc etc Details like these smell like fraud to me.. The warranty card and paper look all wrong to me as well, sorry. I wish you the best in getting this resolved in your favor, fast!

I hope you get all your money back. Ebay will fix it up for you but it might take some time to get it all sorted out. As a long time ebay user, all the signs were there. I don't buy nothing from sellers with low feedback. And if refunds or returns are not allowed, even worse. There are great transactions that can take place on eBay as there are many reliable and honest sellers. However, you have to do your research. I know that you will learn a powerful lesson from this episode.

Warranty paper (old style) is fake as it is blank with no watch info. The newer warranty card is also fake as you can do a Google search these cards with Mayors Jewelers and the rest blank are for sale online. Most certain the watch is also fake. Sorry, hope you can get your money back and best of luck!

Have the Mods move this to WatchOut subforum as you were scammed and most likely have a fake.

It's a fake! You have to ask for a refund not for error on reference, because is not a rolex.

Yeah, you need to hammer Ebay/PayPal and stop payment or whatever you can do with your credit card (or however you funded PayPal).
In the future use better judgement with buying (a lesson you’ve probably already learned by now). As a rule, most people don’t encounter great deals.... so, if it’s too good to be true...it is.

8500USD will not get you a 6 digit reference TT Sub (A Real One). Look in the for sale section here on the forum to get an idea of what a TT Sub Black or Blue costs! If it seems like a deal, run away. There are no bargain basement prices with genuine Rolex items.

Sitting here comparing the bracelet in those pics to the one on my 116613LB. Sorry to say, although someone tried hard, the little details all wrong.
