GMT-Master II non-date dial 16760 Fat Lady

How rare is the 16760 Fat Lady Pepsi Bezel with a non-date dial? I never noticed it on my dads watch until I compared it with my 16710 and then started looking at pics of other fat ladys that all have “oyster perpetual date” on the dial.

The fat lady had a red/black bezel only. No red/blue.

The non date dials are the first year and quite scarce.

Well it is rare and truly the one to have but how rare...it's just a transitional thing.

They would also fall in to a certain serial range and not beyond.

Don't know how rare the the non-date dial is, but the bezel insert isn't original if it's a Blue/Red "Pepsi" insert. All 16760s came with a Red/Black "Coke" insert.

They never came in a no-date version. Aftermarket dial.

Very rare.....no such thing. The 16760 never came without a date, and never came with a Pepsi insert.

As mentioned, the Fat Lady 16760 only came with the red/black bezel insert. A Pepsi Fat Lady is just wrong, wrong, wrong....

As to the no-date dial (dials without the word "date" on them), some look for them, but the 16760 is rare enough; they came both ways.

In this case the OP is referring to dial's writing, not the lack of the date complication. Some 16760 dials came with the words "Oyster Perpetual" while others came with "Oyster Perpetual Date".

I'm pretty confused as to why Rolex would ditch this design for the 16710; what was the advantage?

Yes, sure Lee.

The fatlady 16760 started around 8.40 mio serial with this "no date" dial. Around 8.49 mio serial they got the "date" dial.

My fatlady is around 8.42 mio serial. Don't know the exact serial, because the watch is in the safe of my bank and I don't have pics with the serial....

Mine is a 8.46 and after researching it, it seems to be around the early 8.4 range that the no date was used as yours is and from around 8.45 they started using the date dial it would seem with some overlap either way.

It normally says ”OYSTER PERPETUAL DATE” on these. The first dials didn’t say DATE. Feels mostly like something that owners want to hype. Bit like GMT-Master II stick dial. Perhaps it adds a ton of premium? I have no clue.

In this case it has nothing to do with hype. Its not comparable with a stick dial-hype.

The fatlady "no date" dial defines the very first version of this new model 16760.
Similar to the OCC - dial of the 1675 (very first version)
