Opinions on pepsi GMT 16750

Hi everyone,

The question is in the thread. I was initially looking for a 16700 but found this 16750 which i honestly prefer with the font of the dial.

From a newbie’s point of view the parts look all correct and original. The case and bracelet does not seem to be excessively polished.

Curious to read what you guys think?

Thanks a lot

Its a nice watch.

But: Dial is a later one. Serial 837xxxx should have a matte dial......

That one looks solid. I'm cross-referencing other members here, but that serial is close to the cut-over to the WG indices and glossy dial. So it could have started as a MK1 matte dial and then with a later service changed to the newer dial.

Folks here will say the matte is more desirable, which is true from a market standpoint. It's really a preference, some like the matte for the tool watch vibe and the glossy for the more luxurious look.

Sorry, but that is not right. Glossy dials started at 8.4xxxxx mio serial, beginning with a "no date" dial.

This "date" dial is too late....

Isn't it enough ?

I would not prefer a vintage watch with a not period correct dial....

There’s nothing wrong with that service dial, it’s your call if you accept it as such. Just needs to be priced appropriately.

I get your point but I would have thought this was something very common (i.e. in the 80’s a lot of these were replaced after a rolex service)

It is and personally I would like the watch to be all correct, not mint just correct. If you like the watch and the price, buy it and wear the hell out of it!

Yes, that's right. Many of them were replaced after a service. Off is also correct. If it´s priced appropriately, it can be accepted.

But there are many many correct 16750´s out there and I would spend a bit more money and prefer a complete period correct vintage.

Just my 2 cents

Edit: Lee was faster... :-))

Never liked them. Prefer solid black insert.

To properly price a dial, one must know what year the watch is based on the serial number.
