VERSUS: 1960s Dress and Sport

Fourteenth edition of the "VERSUS" post/picture. What is "VERSUS"? Well, I thought it would be fun to compare two watches (and only those two watches) and discuss pros/cons by outlining the differences and getting folks' ideas/thoughts/opinions on TRF. We got folks here that have been collecting and studying these things for decades all the way to those who are just starting to venture into the crazy world of Rolex (and everyone in between). Therefore, it would be fun and educational!

For this edition, we have a showdown of a couple models from the 60s. An iconic dress watch with the Day-Date reference 1803 and an iconic sport watch with the GMT-Master reference 1675 (Mk1 fuchsia flavor).

Which do you prefer and why?

1. VERSUS: Submariner 1680 v. 16610
2. VERSUS: Rolex Submariner and Sea-Dweller 16610LV and 126600
3. VERSUS: Rolex Submariner 16610s
4. VERSUS: Sea (Deepsea 116660) to Sky (Explorer 1016)
5. VERSUS: Submariners Vintage and Modern
6. VERSUS: Datejusts with Unique Dials
7. VERSUS: Vintage Submariners
8. VERSUS: Vintage GMTs
9. VERSUS: 5-digit Sub and GMT
10. VERSUS: Special Edition Modern Sea-Dwellers
11. VERSUS: A Touch of Red (GMT-Master / Sea-Dweller)
12. VERSUS: Vintage Mk1 Sport Models (1675 and 1680)
13. VERSUS: Stainless Steel and Two-Tone Datejust

Maybe I'm too dense to understand the question. They're both beautiful watches with different purposes. It's like saying Submariner VS. Daytona. Different watches for different uses. An Audi Allroad is great in the snow, and an A-8 is nice to go out to dinner with.

Exactly. Apples and oranges. Not “getting” this one.

Apologies! Maybe they are too different. Was just asking if you HAD to pick one....

Don’t care for gold watches, and not a fan of fuscia. So...I’ll let someone else fight over them.

Like many others I could not decide, so got both. Worn with different outfits at different occasions, though

Nicely done Pete, :) I think I went too far across on the spectrum of Rolex watches with this one. Hard for folks to just pick one!

If the DD was something like a DJ 1600 instead, I'd pick that, but, since I'm not interested in gold, I'd go GMT.
