Wedding Watch Ideas

Hi Team

As an avid watch enthusiast my fiancé has offered to buy me a watch to mark the special day. We will both contribute towards the watch, a total budget of £6,000 ($8,000).

I have a 11610 Submariner, a 114270 Explorer, an Omega SpeedyTuesday and a Tag Heuer Link Chrono.

*Jaeger LeCoultre Master Control Sector Dial Date

*Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso

*Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Railmaster

*Vintage Rolex Datejust (Jubilee)

*IWC Pilot Heritage

A few options spring to mind, but I would love to hear your suggestions.

I like the idea of the JLCs, as well as a DJ, but I prefer the newer DJ41s on Jubilee.

Congrats on the wedding! Keep us updated.

From your list I would got for the Reverso,
I would not like a second hand watch for a wedding gift so the vintage is out the picture I would get the Omega Speedmaster for that cash
Cant go wrong
Iconic watch
Now if you had a bit more I would suggest the DJ41 or my all time wedding fav the Celini
Fits the day in appearance

Seems like you could use a dress watch of sorts. The Reverso is cool, but I really love the JLC Master control with the old-school sector dial. That would be my pick. Plus, they can be had well under your budget.

I love my JLC TTR Reverso but it doesn’t get a lot of wrist time. Still it’s a classic that’s stood the test of horological time. Get a classic design and it’ll stay fresh for a long time.

For couple hundred more you can have new DJ 41. Go new, new beginning, great mark to remember with Rolex.

I'd go with one of the JLCs from that list. Your (very nice) collection is missing a dress watch.

JLC sector dial. Lovely watch, and as mentioned earlier it will compliment your sport watches.

From the list you have, I would go with the JLC Master Control Sector Dial Date. If it was me, I would be inclined to go with something like this:

Definitely the Reverso for me. Depending on the model, you have a nice place for an engraving commemorating the event that you can look at and enjoy even while the watch is on your wrist.

I think the Reverso is among the most classy looking, iconic watches in history. A great choice. (It’s the one watch I really miss.)

I think Reverso is the way to go here. This will provide a solid dress watch in your stable. On the plus side, you can also wear it on the wedding day.

from your list... Railmaster or Reverso.

Just my prefs.

Enjoy.

Oh and congratulations and condolences on your marriage.

I say that to everyone who gets engaged or divorced. I wish you the best. And may this watch always remind you the good times.

I usually don’t like watches on leather, but if there were ever an opportunity to wear one, it’d be for a big day like this. Something JLC wouldn’t be a bad choice, in my book.

Assume that you are still young, I'd get a 50th Anv Sea Dweller because once you have your 50th Anv party, take that Sea Dweller out and see how long you have been on this journey together. Happy Wedding.

It needs to be something ultra classic as you'll keep it for life. I'd buy new and make your own patina on that piece. JLC Reverso is a good idea.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! I got married this past September and though I knew I wanted a watch as my gift I wasn't sure which one. I have Rolexes, Omegas, Tudors, and others in my collection and the wife suggested that for this occasion we get something "that we couldn't just buy in the jewelry shop".

I had always heard great things about the Hentschel brand out of Hamburg so I did some research and gave them a call. I decided to go with the Hentschel H2 Sport and I couldn't be more pleased with the watch. The watch maker (Andreas Hentschel) takes photos of the entire process of building your watch and provides a bound "workshop diary" upon completion. Each watch comes with a 63 month warranty.

Hentschel offers engraving on the case back and we took full advantage. We wanted the watch to be personalized though not necessarily in the standard “Love Always” kind of way. Hamburg is a historic port city and on certain models they acknowledge this by engraving Hamburgs’ coordinates on the watch. We liked that idea so we borrowed and modified it a bit. The coordinates engraved on my watch are those of Lake Tahoe which is the site of our wedding. The DS 09122017 “serial number” actually represents Della and Steve and our wedding date.

Pricing was right around the middle of your budget but since they are made to order lead times can vary. Mine took around 8 weeks to ship.

Good luck in your search. Those are excellent options on your list as well as the suggestions made here.

Although ur fiancé offered to buy u a wedding watch, I would personally try to use the total fund of $8000 to buy two watches. One for u, one for her, even if she may not be into watches. She will appreciate the watch, now and/or later. The watches don’t have to match, but perhaps together u two can select 2 watches that complement each other. Enjoy the process. Best wishes for ur upcoming wedding.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding. Happily married 33 years here.
Any of your options are quite nice. The deciding factor for me would be which one would I continue to enjoy wearing after my wedding day. I’d pick the one that really sings to me.

X2. This is spot on. I see too many “occasion” watches that just sit in the box after the big day is over so make sure it’s a piece you will want to wear quite often.

From your list I would go with the reverso.
