Which is why the tool watch is ultimate luxury.

I’m with those who think the 5 digit models have a certain charm about them. It’s hard to put your finger on, the proportions on all front of the watch seem perfectly judged.

I am having an opposite reaction,
Finally got the ceramic Pepsi and I have been wearing my 5 digits more than I have in years.

Pepsi just sits there... I have a feeling it’s not going to last in my collection.

The 6 digit is way too blingy “look at me” over the top IMO
The current 16710 is expensive, but the 14060 isn't at 6-7k USD. That's one of the few good deals out there compared to everything else.

Explorer 1 and 2 went up quite some bit as well, especially the white explorer II.

I truly don't understand how people can write the oyster bracelet on the 14060 (and every other 5 digit watch) is average. Either I haven't experienced the best bracelet ever but I truly don't see how this one is average.

So what I'm getting from this is buy a 5-digit head only and put the saved cash toward a modern bracelet, or rubber or nato? Anyone gone that route?

I’d also be very very tempted. They’ve shot up recently. I think I’d prefer one of a 14060

I think that

You liked both your five digit Sub and non date Sub, but wanted to have a new Pepsi. I assume that you paid premium for it. Have you started thinking about having paid too much for your Pepsi at the expense of your two five digit Subs. Pepsi is extremely well done watch with all latest technology as you mentioned as to comes its bracelet, clasp and so on. Whether it is worth of the price you paid for it only you know.

Yeah good point. To be honest I paid a premium for everything - the 5 digit subs were expensive to purchase also (I didn't get them at MSRP years ago). So when it came time to pay for the pepsi, I traded the two 5 digits which I felt were overinflated relative to how they felt in the hand (to me) and it felt like a great deal actually - an upgrade. And like I said, I wouldn't undo the trade. Still feel the pepsi feels more fitting of a higher price tag, even one above MSRP. It may seem I am contradicting myself but it's just a feeling not so much logic I guess. That said, I totally agree with what you guys are saying with the 5 digit in terms of tool watch, comfort, charm etc. 100 percent. Which is why i miss them. Guess I'm just struggling with the $ for them versus the feel in the hand, but maybe that's not the right way of looking at it I dunno.

You sounds like someone who really needs to take a look at Tudors BB58

To me, most of the 5 digit models (and some 6 digit models for that matter) still play on the whole notion of the subdued gentleman. Simple, sly and elegant. I know, it's all in my head, but that's how I look at them.

For the record I've got the new yachtmaster 40 with the blue dial and love it - traded my SD43 for that one but that's a whole nother long story lol. I've tried a couple of tudors in my day (BB58 and pelagos) and both of them I had issues with the clasp that were resolved easily but left a bad taste in my mouth.
