Here and there.
I think it's more Rolex moving further away from it's "origins" story into glam jewelry.
The steel bezeled Explorer 2 was seen as one of the last holdouts amongst the sports watch line.
Were one to actually go spelunking, I'd imagine a G shock or Garmin would be the rational choice, but still...

Hope it’s steel with a black PVD coating or tungsten and not ceramic
I get worried wearing the ceramic ones

Never will Rolex do PVD, unlike Tudor. Hoping for tungsten, not ceracrome.

I really don’t get the obsession with worrying about the ceramic bezel (other than out of “purity”).

I have banged up my Omega PO 45mm with ceramic bezel pretty well against all sort of materials, frequently metal door handles (I’m clumsy, I know, and the PO seats tall). Not a scratch or sign.

I understand I may be in the minority, but to me it would be a welcomed improvement if, as it seems, it is even protected in a metal frame.

Basta with all the public tearing of robes and drama, please...

I had a few Chanel J12s. They were entirely ceramic and I never had any issues.

It’s just old men yelling at clouds

I have a crack in my ceramic bezel in my BLRO. Can only see under magnification or iphone zoom. Unclear how it got there but old pictures show it's been there for a while before I noticed.

Convinced that if more people took a close look under loupe of their ceramics they'd see more than they know about. It's not a big deal but it's there.

The world is an imperfect place

It’s not widespread

No.

When you consider all the people that own ceramic bezel watches on these forums out there, you very rarely see anyone mention it. Not saying it doesn’t (hasn’t) happen, but it’s as rare as a lightning strike.

Someone is now going to say, “yeah but it happened to me”. My response is big deal. It’s literally a 1 in a million event.

Wonder if the dial is actually like the Z Blue Milgauss with a clear crystal, it would explain the colours in the video teaser and the shot from the side with the glasss and lume appearance.

Disappointing to see it's not the original EXP2 1655 lume pattern. That would have been cool and a bold nod to the original EXP2.

But it seems they are sticking to the Sub/GMT lume hand-me-down.

Agree, would prefer 1655 lume OR lume in the bezel which would also solve that problem in a different way. Seems like they care more about depositing precious metal into the numerals than adding functionality with lume.

Apparently one of their explorer/ambassadors asked for a GMT dial in his Exp II because he thought 1655 was hard to read, which lead to the 16550/16570. So given that this dial choice came from an ambassador I doubt they’ll go backwards to the 1655.

Absolutely right, it was for the Transglobe Expedition of 1979.

If it does get discontinued it will go from one of the least popular, to recently popular, to people losing their minds. It’s the Rolex progression.

If it’s ceramic bezel, the world as we know it will cease to exist

Out of curiosity, why is it such a pity?

Id like to believe that Rolex read this thread and decided to launch a steel bezel based on our feedback.
