Resizing Grey Mkt Daytona

New to the forum and apologies if this is common knowledge, but if I elect to go grey market for the YG Daytona OF, will an AD help me resize the OF? I'm pretty certain the standard OF won't fit based on threads I read and will require replacement with a smaller size. Just want to make sure I won't get snubbed by the Manhattan ADs for buying in the secondary market and find it difficult to get the right size band.

Grey Market and Secondary Market are two different animals.

In any event, if it is authentic then almost any Dealer should help you get the right size straps if yours are not correct for you, why wouldn't they. They aren't cheap, but there is no reason for them not to.

You might get some flak if the first thing you do is walk in and proclaim where you got your watch from, it's none of their business.

Any AD can take care of it. It is $270 per side. In all likelihood you'll only need to replace one side.

I've seen a few threads here that noted you can take it to an RSC where they will do a strap exchange for no charge. Is that no longer true?

if you can consider it "over worn" you can replace under warranty

Should have no problem OP, where you got it from is none of their business and you can always just say it was a gift. Full replacement is about 600, but as stated you probably only need one side. They’re provided by letters, I think you get E/F from the factory which I’ve been told but haven’t confirmed, is the total number of like bracelet links. So an E would be 5 links being the 5th letter of the alphabet, F would be 6, etc.

Bigger ads should have a few shark fins in stock to help you get a good fit. If you’re ultra paranoid, just call ahead, say your strap isn’t fitting right and you got the watch on vacation. Yellow gold OF were in cases up through December 2020.

Look out f or them damaging the cARp out of the lugs when they change strap pieces.
It is a VERY common problem with the OF straps.
Examine the lug areas at the AD so they know what damage (if any) does already exist.

+100 on this.

Best to let RSC do it since AD with no skin in the game wont be rectifying any damage.

Standard OF Daytona will fit 7 inch wrist pretty well. 7.25" snug if microadjust is all the way out.

You'll need an AD with a watchmaker don't let an overconfident SA do that work. At my AD in Vegas they put stickers on the lugs before they work on them.

If you have an RSC near you go there as I like to have trained technicians do any sizing for me on my Rolex watches. I’ve brought in many new rolexes bought from greys and they sized it with no questions asked and at no charge.

A short piece of Scotch tape is all that’s needed to NOT scratch the gold lugs.

Just sharing what the AD does to point out they are aware of potential for damage and taking it seriously. I don't care what anybody uses.

I have an RSC here on 5th Avenue, so sounds like that is a safer bet than resizing at one of the ADs. Will make sure to be careful with the lugs - presumably the RSCs handle that with care.

That’s where I had mine done in 2017. They have all the sizes handy and were very careful with the watch. In and out in less than a half hour.
With COVID, you might want to call first and be sure to bring the card.

There was no charge to swap the band and they do keep the one/ones they take off.

Just to be on the safe side, show them the watch before it goes in the back and point out there are no scratches or marks on the lugs. This way, they know you’ll be on the lookout.

You're in NYC? Make an appointment at the service center, and they'll swap out your straps for the right size. Likely for free. If they try to charge you tell them that's fine, but you have to keep the other ones so you can sell them on eBay. They'll change their tune and swap them out for free lol.
