Would you do this trade?

This is my 44 mm SMP chrono. Would you trade it for a new SMP White dial on rubber? Only looking at the models - would you do it?

Erik

That's a great watch you've got there! Different strokes for different folks as some say. Do whatever makes you happy, life is short.

In your shoes I wouldn't do it. However, if you want the other model bad enough for certain don't hesitate. Maybe consider the other replies here but most importantly sleep on it a few nights. Ultimately it's your decision to make and you'll be happy either way! Best of luck to you, keep us posted!

Thank you for you feedback. Since the SMP 8800 is considered to be the superiour watch with master movement, ceramic dial etc. - why wouldn’t you do the trade?

You are talking about trading a $6k MSRP watch for a $4.9k MSRP watch.

If we're talking $$:$$ it's not equal. IF they are in equal condition. (Ex. Used vs Ex. Used)

If you don't like the Chrono and want the SMP300, there is a value on your personal desire that we cannot evaluate for you.

For me it's mainly due to the fact I've got a soft spot for Chronograph watches. This is truly a win-win situation for you. The newer models are VERY nice pieces, without a doubt. If owning both can't be justified it gets that much harder to pick, especially depending on how often you wear the watch or if you'll miss it with the other in it's place. As pointed out above by the other forum member, a huge part of this is personal desire.

Do you have any images of the newer model? It would be a great reason to visit a local AD / Boutique and compare both side by side.

Having the sapphire case back displaying the lovely movement is a key factor in favour of the new model in my opinion. My love of Chronograph makes it hard but either way here you win.

Thanks, my chrono is still listed on the Omega site. The price for a new watch like mine is only a little bit higher than the SMP white if Im not misstaken?

I like both but of you have the blue version of the Chrono then why not. Value wise you are close. Go for it.

Not on rubber. Otherwise yes.

I have have no love for a chrono., so I'd trade it in a heartbeat. As far as value goes, I don't think it's an equal trade; if you'd be happier with it, then that makes up for a slight loss in my opinion.

Thanks, but I would guess that a 2016 chrono would be equal or less compared to an unused SMP white?

Oh, no doubt - I'm sorry, didn't know the chrono was 5 years old.....nevertheless, I'd do the trade if the chrono was brand new

I LOVE chronograph watches. I really do. But having owned both, I definitely would do the trade. The 300m is a incredibly capable watch. It's comfortable, thinner (important to me) plenty of water resistance and very accurate. Also add ceramic dial and bezel.

I have actually grown to love this watch more than my Omega chronographs and planet ocean (and I really like the PO as well, alot!) What I find hard to understand is why the SMP has a lower MSRP? This watch has more features than the higher priced AT. If this watch was $1500- $2000 higher it would still be a heck of a value. In fact I would not hesitate to put the SMP up against any watch on the market regardless of price. But I would buy it on the bracelet and purchase the rubber strap separately as I did. This gives you alot of choices .

If your looking for a truly outstanding watch that will look good and pretty much out perform every other watch on the market while lasting a lifetime, IMHO, the SMP is it.

If you find yourself attending fewer and fewer submarine races then it's probably time.

In general I am stuck on the older pre-ceramic, pre-co-axial Seamasters but even on them a chono is a bit too much going on. But I'm that guy that wishes they didn't even have a date function.

Do you have the wrist for a 44mm watch?
