Hey everyone! On the search for a PM Daytona, but I am at a complete standstill as to which I prefer. I cannot decide between the RG black dial Daytona and the Newman dial Daytona. Would love to hear what the community has to say! I am also about to turn 30, if that makes a difference. To my eyes, the YG is a classic but more apropos for a later stage in life.

My current collection:
GMT IIc 116710LN
DD 18038 Champagne dial
Datejust 16234 Silver dial
AP ROC 26331st Black dial

The YG config is spectacular

But I equally like the RG Choc dial

well since you have a yg day date it might be nicer to have a full rose gold piece to give some variety. do you wear the dd often? if you do and enjoy the yellow gold more then just go with yg. i personally prefer yg to rg when it comes to rolex and forget the whole age thing if you like it lol

To be perfectly honest, I rarely wear the DD. I'm a very active individual and do not have to wear a suit & tie for work. It just seems a bit out of place to be wearing a DD running around (Or so I think). Or maybe in my head I still think I am 16 years old and not proper to wear a PM lol. Ahhh the woes of getting older

I wear the 116509 , white gold, which I chose entirely for myself.. Frankly, I’m baffled that you expect other people to make choices for you, your money, your judgement. Who cares what other people choose, they’re not buying it.
Believe in yourself. Trust your own beliefs and tastes.
By the way, i believe the gold Daytona is a true classic. Wear it and you’ll know it was the right decision. You probably won’t care what ‘other people’ would think. Because it’s your watch. Courage and action….and you’ll have years to enjoy your final decision. Good luck.

If you can find and afford a YG "Paul Newman" Exotic Dial, then I say go for it.

Definitely a statement piece...

In that case, I'd probably consider the WG, as it wears less in-your-face than YG/RG.

Or, and you're not going to like this opinion, wait another ten years. Tastes change, so might as well wait until you're at the point in life where you're ready to wear full PM on a daily basis and get what you're into at that point.

The champagne w/black sub dial YG Daytona has been the greatest Paul Newman like watch of my life. Paul himself thought it was pretty cool…I would post a photo of my Daytona for the hundredth time but I don’t want to enrage the flex trolls…
