Same Shoes - Unexpected Decision
Love seeing the back and forth on the black vs. gray! I found myself in the middle of these two today.
I had been on the waitlist for 18 months and finally got the call this weekend. I was in total shock! My preference was gray first, black second. The black was what I got the call for. I truly had my heart set on gray thinking it would be easier to wear with any color but wasn't sure if I can pass on the opportunity in front of me. I went to the boutique thinking I was going to hold strong and wait for the gray. I walked out with the black an hour later. My take is this... no photos do any of these watches justice, plain and simple. They are all stunning and IF you can get one I don't think it's something you can pass on. I was taken back by how much better the black looks in person. Depending on the lighting the "Grande Tapisserie" pattern gives the dial a different color/effect. There were moments where the black dial looked gray. I think the black is bolder and gives the dial more depth. While the gray is stunning but as mentioned a bit more monochromatic. You can't go wrong with either. I hope you all get the same call I did! Best of luck, be patient. Here's a pic... |

Black and gray are my two favorites. I'm not really into blue dials, and really only like white on dressier watches. The black really pops, especially with the updated 15500. The gray looks much better in-person, really dynamic, not as legible as the black. All colors are good choices.

Which 15500ST dial?
The grey dial is so distinctive and mercurial in person, and also incredibly unique and unlike anything in my collection.
Having said that, I think every color is stunning and has its own appeal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This model looks so good at this time of day with the hands at the bottom of the dial. Fills the open spa e of the dial well.

I initially wanted the blue but when I saw the grey i instantly fell for it.
The dial is actually very vibrant and really has to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. |

They are all stunning. I got a call for a Silver and I couldn’t be happier. Especially since I already had black and grey dial watches in my collection. |

Grey dial has always been my first choice - blue dial has all the hype, but is much less versatile, IMO.
As it’s been noted: It’s hard to capture the beauty of the grey in photos, but in the metal it’s incredible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I asked myself the black and grey question before. Then I googled Genta's sketch of the Royal Oak. Well, let's just say the question was answered empathetically. Black, and it's not even close...

The white looks so classy and pops during the day or at night where the blue/black/grey dials for me fade in the dark

Having seen all 4 colors in person, the black dial really stands out as it has great contrast with the bracelet.

I honestly don’t think there’s a bad option out of them all. The blue is currently the most desirable but trends change.

Spot on Ash. And given the scarcity these days if one is waiting for a 15500 it pays to be flexible on the dial to help what may be offered. I'm waiting for a Blue but would happily consider Grey/Silver and Black (in that order) dial this year. |
