The SD for me, as it goes with my sense of style and activities these days. I don't wear much where I think a fluted bezel matches up well, and if I do, I have the DD40. Also, I don't really travel much now, and if I do, I have numerous GMT watches that I think do the job more intuitively.

I got both this summer. They are probably my two favorite.

I stand by my vote: Sky Dweller all day. SD43 will be more of the same - round hour markers plus ceramic rotating bezels. Sky Dweller gives you baton markers, starburst dial and a fluted bezel. No brainer in my opinion based on your collection.

Sky-Dweller 326934 or Sea-Dweller 126600
SD43 is my vote. Sky Dweller is just too bling. Oh, and my wife hated the SkyDweller’s fluted bezel. She said, “is it trying to be some monster in 1978 Vegas”?

First SD43, it's the perfect SS sports Rolex for me.
Still on the list for the blue SkyD... |

I choose the SD43 for the overall versatility and ruggedness. I own both the SD43 and the white dial Sky-Dweller and the SD43 gets a lot more wrist time. I don't think you can go wrong with either, it is a matter of personal preference. If price is a consideration it would be the SD43.

What is the weight of the SS SkyDweller? I know the SD43 is around 185 grams without the extension link. Both watches will do anything you ask in and out of the water. I have recreation dive with a DJ2 so swimming or any other water sports is a non issue. This boils down to what look do you like and how do they wear. The SD43 will be stealth as it looks like any other black Sub to most people. The fluted bezel is just the opposite as it puts on a light show. This is a personality question and not a watch question.

This will be an interesting result. Sky all day every day for me, black and stainless isn't my thing.

Both are valid answers - really depends on what you're looking for and how it fits into the collection.
I'd go with the Sky D for the complications. |

Great thread, guys.
In fact I had this exact dilemma back in August. It was my 50th and of course I just needed to treat myself. I had narrowed the list to the two pieces in contest here. The SD43, because of course it's also 50 years old, and the Sky-D, since I had admired it from first seeing it on the Rolex web-site, back when it was released in precious metals. But was kind of put off by too much PM. Although, if I'm honest, ahem, it was outside of my budget. I figured that because I already have a Sub, getting the SD43 was too much alike, although it is a great watch, love it. I felt I wanted something a little "blingey", to use the word that most guys are using here. I have two Panerai's PAM232 & PAM587, although a lot of wrist presence, still quite tame by comparison. So, I got the Sky-D black dial, also treated the GF to a DJ mid-size too. She was made up, and I'm delighted with the Sky-D. Have had many compliments about it and is quite a change from the diver watches. Having said that, i don't think that one could go wrong with choosing either. |

I voted Sea Dweller- just a lifestyle thing. Brushed surfaces that will wear well with use, timing bezel I use many times a day. It’s a watch that will look better and better the more it’s used.
Sky D is gorgeous and the complications are impressive, but I doubt it would see much wrist time. |

Sky Dweller for me. It's about as large a watch as I care to wear. Also, it is an annual calendar watch that these old eyes can read. :-)

it really depends on what you have in your collection as these two watches are complete opposite beast.......
one is great for travelling and daily semi-formal wear purpose as it's got GMT plus an annual calendar..........another is great for every day, dress up and dress down diving watch...... |
