I googled it and I see a video of people saying to hold it in your hand and move it back and forth for a few minutes. I tried that and the seconds move briefly but then stop. I also tried manually winding it in first position and nothing.

What am I doing wrong?

So I finally went by a Seiko AD and they confirmed (without opening the case back) that something is wrong with my watch.

I gotta say, this is really disappointing and Seiko's customer service is not being very helpful. Told me I have to send the watch for service since it's sold out and it's quite the hassle. They have me filling out forms and now I notice my case back # and serial # is blank on my warranty card. Just a hassle all around.

Really lame.

Did you try winding it without pulling out the crown? That’s all it needs

Yes, I tried that. My friend who owns several Seiko’s tried that and so did the proprietor of a Seiko AD. The watch will run for maybe 10-15 seconds and then stops.

At this point, I don’t think there is any doubt it’s defected.
