Would I be crazy not to buy the GMT BLNR?

As the title suggests, would I be crazy to turn down a GMT BLNR (Batman)?

My AD called me a couple days ago and said one came in with my name on it. I was shocked and happy, and said I would be there in a week to pick it up. Of course, I love the watch and am amazed that I can get it at retail, but would I be crazy to decline it?

I plan to get the funds in order this week to go pick it up on Saturday, but something has me thinking I shouldn't. Overall, the watch is a 9.5 for me (out of 10) and the only thing better would've been a Daytona with a white dial. I have a Datejust and a Breitling, but want an everyday type watch and think this one fits the bill.

Sorry to ramble and all, just wanted some reassurance before I talked myself out of it...

9.5 is pretty close to perfection. You’re gonna regret if you don’t buy it.

Yes, unless there’s something else you want this year. By all accounts, Rolex is asking ADs to throttle customer purchases of allocated pieces.

I would only buy a watch if I really really wanted it, I’m not into flipping a watch so what I buy I intend to pass on to my kids, so my choices are very carefully considered.

If I am unsure then I won’t buy, but I am not you and you have to decide what to do. You can clearly wear the watch for 6 months / a year, and then if your grail arrives sell the BLNR and fund the next watch.

That's what I was thinking. The regret, plus potential damage to the AD/Customer relationship that I'd like to keep intact. Part of me is thinking "it's now or never" LOL

ADs would be wise to listen, IMO. Just this weekend at the WoS in Hudson Yards, I saw a number of customers asking why they couldn’t buy the display-only GMTs, Subs and Daytonas that were in the case. While the naïveté was admittedly amusing, these customers — to a person — got annoyed and walked over to look at other brands when told that there was no merchandise to purchase.

I understand that for some people the “chase” makes them more interested in owning Rolex, but I also firmly believe that Rolex is in danger of losing out on an entire generation of potential purchasers who are turned off by the current market.

Thanks! I'm definitely not into flipping it and would probably never sell it. This watch fills a functional void for me, plus I love the look of it. So, if I get this one, then I'd probably be out of the Daytona market for a long time (which is probably the case anyway).

I would definitely pass it down and it would be with me for the rest of my life. So, maybe I'm just scared of the commitment LOL.

If you don't, you'll be sorry in a week. 9.5 is nearly perfection on a 10 point scale.

I just declined a Wimbledon from my AD within the past couple weeks and have been kicking myself ever since.

Take the plunge. Even if you decide it’s not for you your cost to exit is so far less than your cost to entry.

It doesn't sound like you are in Daytona territory anyway judging by purchase history. You absolutely should not pass on this.

I'm wearing mine today so I'm biased - go for it, I think you'll like it (honeymoon aside). Plus, who knows when/if/ever any of us low spending folks will likely be able to pickup one of those Daytonas...you might be waiting a very long time!

If you buy what you like, it's hard to go wrong. With that said, 9.5 out of 10 is pretty solid so go buy it and enjoy.

What you want and get is academic. You will likely (9.5 out of 10) not get the Daytona at an AD. You will be doing someone else a favor if you pass on the 126710 BLNR

Is the Daytona a 10 or what's a 10 in your books?

I think you're debating between a false dilemma. If you were debating between Blue/Black vs Blue/Red, then I'd say hold out for the one you want.

But as it's unlikely you're up for a Daytona anytime soon so it's not a GMT vs Daytona debate, not really.

Go for it and don't look back.
Many here would love to get that call.

I have one myself and I can say that it is easily turning into my daily.

Any watch that's 9.5/10 should be purchased, if you can afford it

Not sure what would constitute a 10/10, there's always something that could be better/changed on every watch

It's not like you're going to lose money if you decide it isn't everything you want and sell it.

If you want it, buy it. If you don't, don't.

I was in a similar position 12 months ago but I didn't have to cogitate. I passed. What I would say is that in person, it looked much nicer than I imagined. It's a great watch. But it was not the GMT I wanted.

Yes, you would be crazy not to buy. You are obviously excited about it.

No watch is perfect but your 9.5 score is pretty damn close.

Were you on the list for a white dial Daytona and they offered this instead? The reason I ask is because I was on the list for a white dial Daytona and they called and offered me a black dial (9.5 out of 10 for me) so I declined. The called back soon after and gave me the white dial option.
