Update

Thanks for everyone's input! You all confirmed that I would be regretting it if I didn't get it. I'm definitely going to get it this weekend and can't wait. Thanks again and I will post pics when I have it!

I plan to get the funds in order this week to go pick it up on Saturday, but something has me thinking I shouldn't. I have a Datejust and a Breitling, but want an everyday type watch and think this one fits the bill.

Sorry to ramble and all, just wanted some reassurance before I talked myself out of it...

Go for it! If you change your mind would gladly take it off your hands at retail plus tax / shipping as have been waiting for 2+ years in my case

Cost not withstanding, this seems to be venturing from “crazy” to “stupid” territory

Worst case: You tell AD you’re interested in a Daytona whenever your number is up and then trade the GMT back to them.

Now, if this will be a financially taxing purchase, then my joke above does not apply and you need to just make whatever decision you’re comfortable with.

I normally would say never buy a watch you don't 100% want, but in this case I think you should go buy the BLNR. It's a great watch and absolute worst case scenario you could use it in a trade for the Daytona you want. In the end I suspect you will keep it and then ADD the Daytona when it finally becomes available and buying this watch is one big step in the direction of acquiring the Daytona.

Don't worry about the AD/Customer relationship.

If you want the watch buy it.

If you don't want the watch, someone else surely will.

The only thing that matters is if you want and can afford the watch. If either you don’t want it or can’t afford it, then don’t buy it.

If it’s not something you want to wear and enjoy, leave it for some other buyer pining for that watch to pick up. If it was me, I’d pass, but only because that watch doesn’t interest me at retail or any other price.

My advice... 10/10s don’t exist, as everything can be improved... 9.5 would have my wallet out!

Tricky one. Trust me, the last thing you want is buyer's remorse as that can really take the shine off your purchase.... BUT unfortunately these days you can't really turn one down and expect to be offered the next one your AD gets. At the end of the day, all I'd say is to remember that these watches are pure luxuries and nothing more than hobby, so you should never feel uncomfortable with any aspect of the purchase.

Good choice in going with it, even if funds don’t permit they usually offer a 0% CC offer for 12 months. Looking forward to seeing pics.

BLNR is the next one on my hit list. It is spectacular in person and I prefer it to the BLRO (just my $0.02).

Not buying something you dont like is not crazy. But in this case, sounds like you like it. Go for it. Im more amazed that the AD is allowing you a week to pick it up. Every time I get “the call” Im told the purchase as to be done before the store closes that day Smh

Yeah, this is how I would approach it. But for me, I’d decline because I want the BLRO and I’m pretty sure getting the BLNR would mean no dice on what I really want. Daytona seems to be a whole other animal/unicorn.

I can tell you from my experience. My AD offered me a Batman back in 2018 and I declined it without knowing the hype. I regret it and took me almost two years to get another one at retail. At the end of the day it’s up to you if you want to buy it

I just bought one on oyster from my new AD a week or so ago. Definitely one heck of a watch. I think you may be hard pressed not to like it. Run don't walk to the store.

Another vote for “go for it.”

You want it, you can see yourself wearing it, and it’s a 9.5/10 before you even own it.

Go for it! It’s just a watch. It’s not a major life decision.

As others said, you can offload it when the Daytona arrives. In the meanwhile, would be great to have it in the collection to enjoy.

That being said, never buy something that stretches the $ too thin or go into debt for a watch, that’s when I’d back out. Not speculating what your situation is, I’m just saying that’s about my only rule when I look at frivolous spending.

Now go get it and post up some great pictures!!

I was offered one when they first came out but it wasn’t 9.5 for me then and it’s nowhere near 9.5 for me now. I ended up buying it anyway and kept it for about 3 weeks before selling it for what I paid (MSRP) to my cousin. So if you don’t enjoy it, you can always pass it on.

Absolutely! Incredible GMT! I regretted not buying a BLNR in 1917 before the shortage began. Was lucky to pick one up on jubilee in 2019.

Yes. Why is this thread two pages long…

I mean, the only reason to pass is either you hate the watch (and then again just flip it, not one dislikes making profit). The other reason is you don’t like to flip. Just buy the watch, if you don’t like it resell it for 0 profit… talk about overthinking…
