Bravo for not buying and then flipping it for quick money.. unlike most I imagine.. for the record I love mine but agree it does look more stunning on different skin tones

Why would you be mad about not spending 20k on a watch that you really don't care for?

It’s absolutely sexy chocolate if it works for you.

Amazing pic! One of the best I’ve ever see of this model.

The TT CHNR didn’t WOW me

People on this forum like to go on about how hype does not factor into their relationship with Rolex.

Yet posts like these and responses to them are completely symptomatic of having totally bought into the hype.

Okay.

Luckily there are lots of other watches. Looking forward to seeing what you picked.

I know many see warmth in it, but I can't see it. Maybe to me rose gold is kind of muted, toned down to the point it loses its sheen. It doesn't project the right vibe for me. But hey we're all different, many people love it and it's great to have variety to satisfy everyone.

I was wowed by the TT Bluesy however. After trying it on, I knew this was my TT watch. Every time I put it on my wrist after several days of wearing steel, it makes me swear . I find yellow gold warmer, it has that energy about it that gets me. I also like white gold for its heft and for how it flies under the radar when I feel like wearing something a bit more understated. I'm mainly a steel guy most days, but gold is special, no doubt.
I struggle with gold on a watch, the yellow gold TT I have tried just seemed to bright, too much bling, I just wasn't comfortable wearing a yellow TT so we tried the RG version, that seemed better I thought about a RGTTDJ but didn't like them, my AD said that I could have the next CHNR that came in but as you can see I didn't like that either.

It is bizarre, I want a watch with a splash of gold, I like the Rolex watches in SS but not their TT versions, I wish I knew why. Thankfully I have found a great watch with a splash of yellow gold that I like and I pick it up on my birthday next month.

Sorry, not sure what you mean.

If you're suggesting that I am sucked into the Rolex hype then sorry thats not the case, I like a good variety of watches and have more Omega's than Rolex in my collection.

Rolex make really good watches, I have two a DJ and a Submariner, I thought that a TT Rolex would be rather nice, I like my wife's TTDJ but I cannot get a Rolex TT that I like. If I was sucked into the hype I would just have bought the watch irrespective of whether I liked it or not.

So far I have tried the following TT Rolex without success;

Sky Dweller with Champagne dial
Daytona with Black and MOP dials
Submariner Date yellow and black
DJ's in both RG and YG
GMT

If I was suffering from Rolex hype one of the above would have stuck and I would have purchased. I have also tried a number of other brands and it was one of these other brand watches that I have ended up with, it was a try-on and WOW, something I didn't get with Rolex.

So no I am not a follower of the Rolex hype, I like Rolex watches (well most of them), but I am not a slavish I have to have just Rolex, I am very happy with a good mix of styles and brands, this gives me variety which is what I want.

I admit it didn't just wow me either - it blew my frikkin socks off, so I bought it. I’ve had the watch a month, rotating every other day, and I still love it. Yes, in direct sunlight it can look almost stainless steel, but luckily here in the UK it’s hardly ever sunny . 5% of the time the bezel can look too brown, but the rest of the time it is just so damn stunning. But this is why Rolex make so many different varieties - if you ignore hype, everyone should have their own taste.

Actually, it would look much better than the current layout.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you don't like it, then that's good, you're buying for the right reasons.

But then again to most others, I'm crazy... I don't like Kermit, cermit, mayor Daytona, platona and shock horror, Batman too!

It's good that we are all human after all!

Hmm, sunburst dial, now that’s a thought, yes that might work, choice of bracelets, another good idea.

Rolex are you listening?

Right and wise decision if you are not sure about the specific model.

You’re not mad at all… you’ve successfully found ‘the secret’ to this hobby - buy what you like, and not the hype.

For me I’d have snapped this up in a heartbeat, but there are plenty of models out there I would politely decline.

You’re on your own journey - enjoy it

It didn’t wow me either. Too many colors going on. Now the full RG CHNR is a different story. It wows me every time I put it on.
