Grand Seiko Snowflake, what do owners think?

Do you like it? A keeper?

I've had mine for a few months and I still love it.

By far my most accurate watch. I think mine is running about +2/3 seconds a month. Ridiculous accuracy.

Also extremely comfortable and I never get tired of watching that second hand sweep.

I had mine since May. It’s an iconic Grand Seiko because of three things:

1. Spring Drive movement
2. Snowflake dial
3. Titanium case and bracelet

I love wearing the watch. It flies under the radar and the combination of blue seconds hand sweeping through the snowflake dial is mesmerizing.

It’s a gorgeous looking watch; if I were to purchase a GS it’d be the one I’d go for.

I almost purchased the snowflake, but when I was at the AD to try it on they had the Peacock also, and that one sang to me much more than the snowflake. Don’t know why really.

Had it for about a year, liked it a lot except for the weight of it. Barely felt you were wearing a watch at times. I like the new Limited Edition that’s coming out, similar to the snowflake but with a light sky blue dial.

Great watch I just wish they'd remove the spring drive power reserve indicator on the dial. It looks cleaner this way.

I agree! I do not think a power reserve indicator is necessary on an automatic watch, and it makes the dial cleaner.

However, I like this watch very much and I think I will still go ahead and get it despite the power reserve

Does anyone have any more info on this sky blue version? First I've heard of it.

I like mine a lot and has kept its place in my rotation.
The lightness and the spring drive movement makes it unique in my collection.
Mine’s a keeper.

I have had mine almost 2 years and still love to wear it.

The lightness is an asset, and it looks good with anything.

I'm going to offer a different opinion. Albeit the Snowflake dial is beautiful, it's got a lot of real estate. I think it would be too plain without the reserve indicator. In retrospect , I wish I'd gotten the previous Snowflake which has the larger "SEIKO" at the top of the dial.

For sure, love it! The pin & collar setup for bracelet sizing is a PITA, but that's something you deal with once. Light and easy, matches everything, dresses up and down, gorgeous dial and finishing, nice little bling factor with how light plays off the indicies and hands. Really accurate (mine gains +1 every 3 weeks or so).

I don’t own the watch but have tried it on and was very impressed, as I have been with all the GS I have seen and handled. The fit and finish is amazing at its price point. I’m not a fan of the PR on the dial but it wouldn’t stop me from buying one. If you like the watch you really can’t go wrong. You rarely hear about someone buying the Snowflake and flipping or regretting their purchase

I have my eyes on this one. It checks all the boxes for me - I've wanted a Spring Drive for more than a decade but never got around to pulling the trigger. A local AD has one and I'm heading over tomorrow to take a look, so I will report back what my thoughts are!

Got my WG trio. Smurf, Daytona and BLRO.

Also have a TTDJ and a BB Burgundy (Tudor). If i get lucky, might get a Tudor trio as well (add the GMT and then the Chrono).

Thinking of a blue SkyD and a SD4K plus an Explorer. Since i collect in threes.

Targetting to get a YG President when I turn 50 and a platinum rolex (either DD or Platona) before that. A Pt DD, YG President and my existing TTDJ would complete a trio also.

have the sbga059 golden snowflake. would have preferred the silver colored hands better but got it on blowout when the dials changed. I wear it all the time. Used to switch it out for the 5711 blue when I would get home from work and the weekends, but now I tend to just wear the snowflake all the time. The only other watch that really mesmerizes me with the way it reflects light is my 15202, but that's 6x as expensive. Would love it if they came out with more variations or colors with this dial.

How does the titanium wear? I have never owned a titanium watch does it scratch easily with all the polished surfaces?

I wear mine more often than my 904L watches, and the titanium remains mint. Not one mark on it. Granted, I'm easy on my stuff....but just as easy on my steel watches and they all show minor scratching. BTW, there aren't as many polished areas as you may perceive. As far as weight goes, I don't mind the "lightness", but you definitely notice the difference. I don't find the feel to be "cheap" as some have mentioned.

It’s a true 41 with a rather large dial.

wear mine daily but dont baby it, and it shows. matte portions definitely show scratches. doesnt seem to be appreciably different than my steel watches.

I’m picking mine up on Monday. I’ve been looking at one for about 2 years. What kept me from getting it are the lightness, the thickness and the less than robust feel of the bracelet (when compared to the newer Rolexes). The amazing Spring Drive, the workmanship and of course the dial finally tipped the scale for me. It’s not cheap, at least for me, but for about the same money of a Rolex OP it’s much more attention to detail and better workmanship.
I’m just concerned even a polishing will have to be sent back to Japan. That’s why I asked about how titanium wears.
