Judging by the way the case has corroded, there is a likelihood this is made from "Snowite", which I believe was a chromium plated zinc alloy used by Rolex in the 1920s and 1930s.
Oyster watches were first introduced in 1926 so this one could have been made anywhere from then up to the mid to late 1930s. The other interesting feature is the retailer's name gets a more prominent position on the dial than the Rolex Oyster script, indicating that neither Rolex nor Oyster were particularly well known or coveted at the time. Taking the case back off would be helpful in seeing if it is a Snowite case, looking for model and serial numbers, identifying the movement, etc. |

I have a couple of old Tudors with masses of radium lume like this. I dare not wear them much due to the radioactivity.
They look nice, and must have glowed like a torch back in the day, but they're rather impractical for any sort of regular wearing. |
