FOIS discontinued?

Went to pick up my FOIS in SS today and AD (in Melbourne, Australia) told me that both RG and SS FOIS are being discontinued. Has anyone else heard this?

The OB I visited last weekend said they haven't heard any information regarding the discontinuation of, or any updates to, the FOIS.

Those were both LE though. The FOIS isn’t a LE.

I was told this as well this past weekend by the OB in Orange County.
FWIW, they’ve never steered me wrong and have been accurate on what they’ve shared in the past.

Since the Omega CEO already said a new moon watch is coming out next year, it makes sense to discontinue the FOIS since it uses the 1861 movement.

Received an email from Omega today about the First Omega in Space.

Bit strange for them to send out a mail shot about a product they’ve already stopped making, I would have thought...

I got the same email. My only guess is that Omega is trying to drum up more interest to sell whatever remaining stock is left before closing out the FOIS. It's had a good 8 or 9 year run with like 15,000+ produced.

I hope they release a FOIS with the 3861. That would be the best daily watch for me.

I've decided my 321 is a special occasions watch for me not a daily.

Yes it’s discontinued.

My AD showed me the email from their Omega rep. Clearly stated production was finished on the FOIS.

Yeap. My AD asked if i wanted their very last 2 moonwatches without discounts. 1861/1863 are apparently going out of production.

if the movement is going out of production, does that make the watch more or less desirable? From what ive read the new movement is an improvement?

Sometimes just the fact that a watch is discontinued makes it more desirable.

For example, the discontinued submariners went up in price on the grey market as soon as they were discontinued.

Even though the new one has a new movement.

Now if you had old and new right in front of you, which one would you pick ?

Well with a submariner they both sell for a premium and are a little different.

So that’s up to you.

Look up pictures on google.

Look up “omega fois”

Then open a separate tab and look up “omega Speedmaster pro”

(Official name is the moonwatch)

You will see the difference

The fois has a smaller case, straight lugs and no crown guards and is sold on a leather strap

The pro, has a bigger case, curved lugs, crown guards and can be had on a bracelet or strap.
