Hi,

I recently saw a Panerai on someone's wrist that had a visible balance wheel (or was it a tourbillon?). Just a small opening in the dial, not a skeleton watch.

I tried to find on the web which Paneria this is, but didn't succeed.

I'm sure the experts on this forum know the Model nr of this beautiful watch?

I've seen this model before. Like you, I've looked at several types of PAMs and found nothing that looked like it. I think it's a fake. Can anyone help me with this?

Outside of the scienzioto models Cru posted, I'm 99.9% sure there are no Panerai with an exposed balance. Wait......I just thought of one. Ther was another tourbillon model made in early 2000 range. An SE of two watches. Pam 77. GP movement

Maybe it's just me but I'm not a big fan of Panerai openworked or overly complicated models. Maybe because the brand history has never been associated with haute horology? I love my PAMs brutishly simple. Ok... the openworked pocket watch is cool.

I was not referring to the skeleton Panerai (which is indeed rather ugly), but it seems there's indeed a Panerai with a Tourbillon (see below).

It's an extremely rare watch though, sold at an auction. I can't imagine the person I saw it on has this watch and is wearing it every day...

If you're right this means he was wearing a fake watch?
I see him later this week and will try to make a picture, not yet telling him I think it's a fake (don't want to offend him, he mentioned he got it as a present for a very special event!!).

No, this is definitely not the one I saw.
The one I saw has a black dial and with only the tourbillon or balance wheel showing.
Much like the very expensive one below. But again, can't believe it's this piece so my friend must be wearing a fake watch...

The one pictured is a 205, a limited Edition for Antiquorum (not SE) released in 2004. EDIT: It's a LE of 1/1... so yeah, I'd say your friend has a fake on his hands...

I love Panerai's in-house Tourbillons which are implemented in "sleeper mode*"

, but otherwise it's not a "true Panerai". If I were gifted a 205 (or 77 for that matter) I'd flip it in a heart beat...

*The 276 is one of my grail-of-grail Panerais...

Watchcentric I know exactly which one you're talking about. It has a clasp typically found on PAM models, not like the Radomir set up. I have a strong inclination that it isn't real.

The only thing fake about it is that it says Panerai on the dial!

I say that, because there is no real Panerai that is anything like that dial.

So this is a fake Panerai made up in a dial configuration that has never been made by Panerai......

I agree with you 100%, on my 233 I hide the second time zone hand behind the hours hand, but on the others I have the seconds hand, for me seeing movement when I look at my watch is something I can't go without

Of course the 276 would be one of my favorites also, the only thing is that it is way out of my price range, so I don't even bother thinking about it, anyways except if I win a few millions playing the lottery, my Pam collection is complete and there is no way that I am going to buy another one, I know that's a hard resolution to keep to, but I don't like having too many watches, I have some at the bank that I haven't worn in years, Cartier, Breitling, so after I sell my Pam 28 I will have 4 watches that I am crazy about and will do variations with them
